Well I finally bite the bullet and ordered a Sig Hog Bipe kit and a magnetic build board from Tower Hobbies today. This wasn't my first choice airplane but I need to start with something easier than a Top Flight F-4U Corsair or a Sig Clipped Wing Cub.
Has anyone used the magnetic build board, and did you like it? I know its a little late for this question but if I get a bunch of negative feedback on it I can still cancel or send it back.

It gets mixed reviews. My brother bought it and has mixed feelings. It doesn’t come with enough magnets, so you’ll probably end up buying more. Also, some of the plastic fixtures are a little flimsy. There’s good info about magnetic systems at:
http://www.airfieldmodels.com/inform...oard/index.htm
There’s info for building high quality fixtures, and he sells fixtures if you prefer to buy them already made.

I have that board. I love it. ... Yes, I know, we can build one cheaper. But,...
About the magnets, yes, too few. Order 100 from the website link that Carrell posted. Just place it on a flat surface. The magnetic board is very flexible and will shape to any non-flat surface curves resulting in a bad building.
I use it over a GP wood board of the same size and those on top of a 1" flat top table where I work. Can't be more flat than that. Overkill I know.
Ask for help if you're in doubt how to use it.

I've just been waiting to have enough time to build a nice work station, the fold up tables I'm using now do the job but leave something to be desired. When I'm off over xmas I will be building a nice table made from particle board and laminate, the company I work for will sell me these Items at cost so I could easily build and 3X6 work table for $35 to 40.

How is the sig kit?
How is the sig kit?
I ironed the plans and got them in good shape but not great. As far as the aileron goes I'll post a pic when I start my build and see what the people on RCU, think if I can use it or if I should call SIG and get a replacement.

SIG is a great company and you will love the Hog Bipe. Call or email Sig I bet they will send a new aileron. I have built several Sig kits and all have been fine ... great flyers TOO!

The Hog Bipe builds real easy, and it flies real nice too. Even though it is not your first choice I think you will really like it once you start flying it.
I built mine with the dual aileron servo mod which is included in the kit and I replaced the tail wheel with a Sullivan.
No other mods were made. Oh yeah I did not use the push rods that were included in the kit either, to much feed back that they really expanded and contracted with temp changes.
I fly off of a grass runway and I do not have any nose over problems.
Lots of people like to move the landing gear forward 1/2 inch to make sure there won't be any issues, that is an easy mod to make even though I do not personally think the plane needs it.
Have fun with it, resist the urge to strengthen anything in the tail section (it really does not need it) since it will just add needless weight.
