I'm enjoying your documentation of the build.
You should consider posting this to a website so it doesn't get "lost in the noise" when the thread dies down.....

Then when it comes to joining the bottom wing the damn manual/instructions just fall apart
No mention anywhere about the dihedral or what it should be. In the end I rasied one tip untill the ply brace was set correct. However if you read the manual as it talks about adding the bottom sheeting "Keep the wing flat on the building board" hmmmm.
I also question the manual suggesting using thick cyno (CA) to hold the interplane wires into the interplane struts. I used CA to tack them, then used Epoxy to fill the joints.

If you lined up the plywood joiner you should be OK...As for the struts the CA is to tack the wires, then epoxy the sandwich together...There is a trick to getting the wings, struts together at one time...I first install the top wing, install struts in top wing(don't slide forward yet), then set bottom wing in saddle, line up struts, now slide forward and lock into place, the tighten bottom wing...Oh and try not to puncher the covering with the wires!!! When ya get there...Making great progress...Took me 6 months to build mine...

there is no set dihedral for the bottom wing in the instructions.
What I did is installed the top wing and the wingstruts and set the bottom wing in it's saddle
(the plane is upside down)
Then attached the bottom wing to the struts and clamped the ply braces in the center, trimmed where needed, and glued one brace at a time being careful not to move the bottom wing from it's saddle.
I hope this helps.

BTW: my knees will be a knockin when I first take this bird to the air

My big problem was fitting the cowling around the Saito 120. I ended up ordering a new cowling. Took me two tries. I really do admire the coverings I have seen from you guys. I have got red squares on the bottem of the wings with black smaller squares on the elevators and rudder. I ended up with covers block on the top of the wings which are white right now. How you guys are are doing such a beautiful job on sides and vertical stabilzer is beyond me right now. I love the plane, it is my third project and I'm afraid right now my flying has to catch up to the plane.
great thread.

Boy thats some nice work guys. I have been trying to send a picture for awhile ,but it keeps telling me that its to large. I sent a picture of a extra G P 300s with no problem and will keep trying .My skybolt has a 120 saito with a15x8 prop and her first test flight will be tomorrow God help me Please !I have burnt a lot of midnight oil on this puppy. she weights in at 9.5 .lbs and i used ultracote for the outer skin. So, if i may indulge your patience i will keep trying to send this picture of my super skybolt.

Tom,
This plane took to the sky like a fish to water...Flew like she was on rails...The landing was a real grease job!!!! What a relief...She made me look like I knew what I was doing.
I only had to add a touch of left aileron.... The Saito 120 pulled this baby through the air with lots of authority...

Congrats on a job well done.
With so little trim required you built a straight, well balanced aircraft.
I'm sure glad to hear how well it flew.
Many fun flights with that baby.

Minnflier:
I'll be happy to get the dern thing flying straight and level let alone inverted or right side up flat spins.
Last time I did a spin was with my balsa nova.It was more of a death spiral, right to the turf!!
Also Minnflier..when you bring your plane in from a landing to the flight line, try to keep your toes AWAY from that spinning prop..LOL

My cowl arrived today from Stansfibertech
, fits like a glove, no trimming needed. I'm glad I went this way, I heard some strange stories of the supplied kit parts not fitting...
