Default Do 335 - build

Just started on building my second Do 335 kit. This one is a little larger and will also be electric.

Here's the top of the fuselage at the start:

Looks great Jeff! You're moving fast. I'm going to be starting on mine soon, though. Maybe I can catch up to you! :-)

Where did you get these kit? I can't remember the web site?

Yeah I got some time over the weekend to get some work done. I hope to start the right wing tonight and get some sheeting on them too. I have the retracts ready to go too! You will have to show me how to do the covering. Where do you get your glass cloth and what weight is it?

Here are a few more photos of the Do 335 build. I finished the removeable tail section and have most of the sheeting finished on the fuze. The front hatch is also sheeted. I have the wings ready to sheet next. Trying to figure out if I want to glass or use a fabric covering? I want to keep the weight down as much as possible on this one to make sure I get a good flyer. Leaning towards using an iron-on covering material to save weight and if it looks bad I can always glass it later.

Looking good there Jeff. I've actually started on mine. I just have the upper formers glued to the crutch so far. I've found a few things to fix in the next run of parts and plans, but nothing major.

Gary,

So far it's been a pretty smooth build. It's much easier than the small one I hope to get some time to get some of the hardward installed in the wings this weekend. I want to have the retracts installed and tested. Still not sure about what to do with the flaps? I may try and find a solid piece of balsa for them and use pin hinges like on my P51B. Otherwise I may go with split flaps, not scale, but easier to install

Been working on my Stuka lots trying to get the cockpit kit installed and changing the gear to oleo struts to help with landings. I am going to do a lot of weathering on the plane when I get everything dialed in and it's flying perfect. The oleos should take care of the landing bounces...or maybe it's me?
