Colors are Monokote Salmon, grey and white. Two extra bays were added to each wing tip extending each wing by almost 5 inches.
Vertical stabs were added to the top and bottom of each side of the horizontal stab to allow for the needed control for float planes.
Obviously, floats were added and a rudder on one float. One rudder worked fine even with a breeze blowing.
The wing was built flat. Washout was put into each wing by twisting the wing and using the heat gun on the covering. Worked quite well.
Putting the washout into the wing created anheidral in the wing. Yes, both wings point down.
Flying inverted required no down elevator. All I can assume is that the floats and anheidral accounted for it.
Was a fun plane to fly. Floats are foam covered with balsa and 3/4 oz cloth....except for the bottom. I put 4 layers of cloth on it to protect the float from getting punctured on something that may be lying in the water.

You can cut out recesses in the floats and have a portion of the wheel protrude from them as they do from wheel pants. It can then go on land or sea or just roll from land to float on water. This isn't my idea. Wendel Hostetler has this option on his Cessna 150 float plans.

ok ive desided to leave this old eagle alone. i went and bought a new eagle kit and a futaba 6 chanels controler. i was planing on extrending a portion of the alerons buy two inches for the flaps mabie about a 4inch section.of course like the first one im going to use taildragger i went and bought a fancy tailwheelfrom dubro and on top of that i only use 5 chanels so i think im going to add a bomb release so i can bomb my friends lol!!! as for covering i think ill stick to monokote since i have the tools. id like to see peoples covering jobs on anyplane just looking for a cool covering job perhaps a army style i think id like to go a little more complicated the one on my first eagle

Mr E,

This may be what you are looking for; you can save some work by using flaperons. I did not need the struts but it makes it look a lot less like a trainer. The kit was given to me and I did not want to build a trainer so this is what I came up with.

That is by far the nicest trainer ive seen i love the schem and the struts i was thinking exactly like i was thinking. ok heres what i have so far i got my new plane 3 days ago i can fly threw building trainers all is square and leval checked tree times. i used the dubro super strength landing gear with 5 inch dubro baloon tires big big tires lots of bounce .i went with flaps, they extend about 60 degres. i used a a 12 oz fule tank with a filler line all the lines run out the top of the acsses door the total weight now is close to 4 pounds. i am useing 8 seros with 3 y harnesses well wporth the weight i think i may use a larger engin then the os .46 surpass engin i have in it i was thinking a .50 or a .60 with my prop on i have 3 and 1/2 inches clearence. so far i also have the tail sections done useing pin hinges for most of the hinges my best trainer i think. i plan latter on to make a bomb drop peace so i can bomb my feild. here are some pics to explain what i was saying [img][/img]

Mr E,

I will going to AK this week and I will see what I can get a picture of. Taking a picture of a bush plane in AK is like taking a picture of a ford here!

Hello Mr E,

A number of years ago I did something similar to an Eagle II kit. I had already gotten my wings so I didn't want another trainer. I changed it to a tail dragger, inverted the engine and cowled in the nose, and built the wing with an Eppler 197 airfoil (semi-symmetrical). That plane flew awesome and it was fast too, with a 40 size engine. I have a SIG LT 25 kit stored away and was thinking of doing the same thing to it Nice building job. Both of your Eagles look great.

Cheers!

JD,

Did you make a template for the wing ribs?

Mr. E,

How are you doing on the build?

I wish I would have weighed on this earlier. I think some good color shcemes would be of planes like the Pilatus Porter:

http://www.globalsecurity.org/milita...-20-porter.jpg

Or, the Aviat Husky:

http://www.aviataircraft.com/hgallery.html

Many of these planes are used for utility in the bush, and the red coloration on some lends its self to increased visibility, especially in winter conditions. Perhaps it would even be good for a float plane. Good luck with your build, and I look forward to seeing what you come up with.

Mr. E.

If you look at my post about wing rib templates you will see that it is a two part post; one to JD and one to you.

I am still going to send some pictures.

Ok! I was weighing my model last night and realy oddly it comes im around 3 and a half pounds so i desided that i will cover it in fabric useing the sig stix it and sig cover all fabric (white silk). Dose anyone know if witht that type of covering chemical if i can use auto paint on the plane. Also since i have desided that i will be towing and bomb droping with this plane i would like to put a larger engin init.i figured i would like to beable too tow at least 4 additional pounds. Any sugestions on the size i was thinking .50 maby.60 . NO four strokes i just cant do the tuneing on them. id also like too know what ya think prop size as for clearence i have about tree and a half inches between my 11/6 prop but im looking a prop that will pull the plane great give it good climb im not worried about speed at all. I like the slow planes.

Any help with fabric covering would be nice as ive only dont it on full scale and im going to be useing and iron on chemical. anyone have a link to a rc fabric covering jobs even if its just pictures, if posible a covering job useing sig stix-it.
