Nice Eagles,
I learned to fly on one, as it was the prefered first plane then, and that club was in Eldon, Mo. close to the Lake of the Ozarks. ( LORCS )Many of those Eagles had the plywood side window knock outs left in and the front window built up with balsa for superior strength. Black mono kote for windows cut same as the plastic kept the look the same. We also left in the knock out in the last former and ran the elevator nyrod out ther for water tight fit. We converted to Taildrager mode so floats could be installed easily by just removing the wheels. A set of plastic LG holders was installed aft of the main gear for the rear span on the floats. A bed of silicone under the wing for a water wing seal. Overall it was a fine sea plane. One Feb. our at monthly meeting we made up foam flaot cores for anyone who attended. This was back in the late 80s
I still have the floats!

hey gang long time no talk soo i have some more pics sadly im still not covered but i just keep finding things i feel need tweeked. ive sheeted the tail serfeces with thisn balsa but im not trying to get major strength. on the belly of the plane i added 1/16 balsa by the tail wheel servo to make it easer to cover. i have used an os engin i just feel that its a better engin i know some dissagree this is just my personal prefrence, its a .61 fx and it looks a beast. im still waiting on a bomb ralese and sig white silk and stik it witch i ordered from my local hobbie shop.there is also a pic of the nose art i drew up and of my old eagles art any one have i deas on coulor seeing the nose art. well that what i have for know any more pics id love to see modified or stock.

I'm repairing some wear and tear and minor crash damage to my Eagle (built 12 years ago, but I just started flying in '07-life got in the way). I may do the sheeted tail, I like the looks and I have had warping problems on the stab.

i was looking into useing the robert door hinge as a flap hinge. but that might work the only problem i have is the alerons used as flaps are realy thin and i doubt id have anuf room for glueing.

well im neering the finish of building and will soon move into putting covereing on. just a couple more thingsto be done. i plan on adding struts and to add shape to the top of the fusalage. i added 1/8th by 1/4 inch balsa strops to the bottom to add shape and formed it around the stearing servo, i also added a parge peace of 1/4 inch balsa to the front section of the fusalage bottom and shaped it to streemline the landing gear. i droped the idea of the bomb release instead i will me makeing the furthest part of the fusagale to except a tow rope i was thinking of useing a treaded rod for a pull pull sytem so a rope can fit in the hole. anyways heres some pick anyone have any adias as to strenghthin the wing at this moment the plane weighs in at 7 pounds with the engin and finished im estimateing in around 8-9 pounds. since i plan on doing stol and lite accro with it i need the wings strong i was thinking mabie to sheet sertin parts????like i did to the tail serfeses.i will also be adding a vent on the side front portion of the fuse kinda like a bf 109 has just for looks and posibly to add ventalation to the batery and electronics.

im soo happy how its turning out.

what do you all think of adding 1/32 balsa on the tings leading edge??? im not trying to grab to much strength i just want to pull off a tight rool or loop with out the wings sheering off from stress. oh any one have pics or diagrams of how i can atach struts to my plane??? any help guys and galls......

This is just my 2 cents worth. I may be wrong.
If the wing shears, it will fold near the center, not on the outer wing panel.
By adding weight with the sheeting, you are creating more stress on the center of the wing.
This would increase the chances of the wing folding.
This kit has been around for a long time. I would go with the designers plans.
I had one and it lasted for years. It can take a beating.
If you want to put functional struts on it, go ahead and try sheeting.

well there bplth finished now and it added a substanchal amount of srength but at the tip where i expect to strike the wing once or twice soo i think ill sheet it with 1/32 or 1/16 sheet balsa. i think im going to build one of thoughs sights that acrobatic planes have on the wing tips just for something to do. oh yeah my plane is getting close to 9 pounds will this effect my flight i do have all the extra power and the wings should have efficient lift. oh anyone have drawings for woden skis i wana build a pair for the eagle though it wont see this winters flight? and thanks for following and for the advice

Let us know if the wing struts tend to vibrate or flap as the wind goes over and under them. I'm curious to the affect that the attachments may have. Ron

The strut might act as an airfoil and air flow goes over the top and bottom. Maybe it will cause a type of flutter.
Toss it around with some of your flying pals. It probably isn't anything to be concerned about.
I liked the way your installation looks. If it doesn't cause problems I may copy the idea from you.
Thanks, Ron
