I have search my old mags and could not find ant thing. I did see something in RC Reports but could not decode it. Does anyone have a good idea for this type of jig???

Great Planes make a little jig. It works Ok but is not perfect as it's a little flimsy. However, it does make it easier to get the slot machine started without it jumping around. I do remember the article your talking about though. If I find it I'll get in touch with you. I'd give you the link to the product except I can't seem to get to the Tower or Great Planes web site right now.
Ok, here is the link Slot Machine Cutting Guide

Thanks for the info. I didn't know about the GP thing. The one I saw was a wooden thing some guy built. I thought I had cut the artical out but now I can't find it. If you run across it I would be greatful.

I clamp my GP hinge cutting tool to my workmate on its side. This give the cutters a fixed distance above the surface. Then using shims of balsa I work out a combination so the middle of the wing, stabliser or rudder is at the right height and parallel to the cutters. Start the unit up and gently feed the part into the hing cutter keeping both hands clear but firm on the piece. Easy now. Don't clamp the hinge tool too tight though, and use care in initial contact.

I use a Tettra hinge marking tool (available from Central Hobbies) When I mark then hinge line where I'm going to cut it I use a fine tip ball point pen and press down hard enough to leave a slight indention. Then when I go to cut the slot I just place the blades down in the indention and it stays put when I hit the switch.

Here is a link to a DIY jig for the slot machine. I haven't tried it but it looks neat.
