Sorry I have already posted these pics in a Seaplane thread...
This talk of Astro Hogs and floats. I wanted to do something a little different so I made a monofloat and tip floats for my Hog. White foam, packing tape, 3/16 dia aluminum tubing and a couple of shelf brackets.
The hog is covered with Sig Koverall and dope. Saito 91 for power.

Thanks Stan,
My epoxy is taking longer to cure, must be the
humidity (High). So i'm letting the wing just sit
for a couple of days.

Hello!
My Astro is finished! IΒ΄m waiting to fly it in 2-3 weeks and will see how it flyes.
It has a YS63s for power. Built it as taildragger with dihedral reduced to 6ΒΊ total. Has also 1 servo per aileron and sullivan pushrods.
Weight is 7.85 Lbs/3570 gr aprox, I had to put 250 gr in the nose to balance it. It doesnΒ΄t seem to be very heavy, but lets see first fight...
The scheme is inspired in that old GT40 Β΄68 of le mans, I hope youΒ΄ll like it.

Good looking hog,you have.
I mounted the blocks in the wing for
the tail dragger version. I also went
ahead and mounted some ply with
blind nuts for a fuse mounted gear.
Not sure which way i'll go ? I temporarily
borrowed the main gear off my stik for
a day.

While the other model pics show some beautifully constructed and finished models, your Astro Hog is finished very close to how I would do it.
Cub Yellow and Dark Red are dynamite color combos. The only one that I like just slightly better is Metallic Red Monokote with a White Monokote base color. Yours is absolutely beautiful.
I saw one of these fly with an early ASP .61 ABC engine swinging a 13x6 propeller (forget the brand). What a beautiful combo. This model's specialty is outside snaprolls, in case you were curious.

Looks great Dave.
I've noticed more people choose
the tail dragger with the mains mounted
in the wing, over mounted to the fuse.
Our club has a grass runway (Bermuda),
I'm concerned about the wing blocks holding
up on the grass.

Thanks w8ye,
Since I am building mine for either TD version,
i'll try the wing mounts out.
What changes are required to the supplied wire ?
Manual says there for the tri cycle version.

Bob,
You must bend the wires 18ΒΊ only in the 1" wire that goes into wood, in order to advance the gear. In my plans this modification is described. I did 2 fotos, I hope this helps you.

Another comment regarding the gear for the tail dragger version. Tail dragger gear requires a longer length music wire as the 5/32" gear provided in the kit is too short. Also you may want to consider using 3/16" wire for the gear as it will be less prone to bend back after numerous landings. If you decide to go for the bigger wire you would also have to widen the grooves on the landing gear blocks to accomodate the bigger wire. In either case, a wire bender makes the job easy. If you don't have one ask other fliers if they do and ask to borrow it or ask them to bend the wire for you.

Dave,
Thanks for the info. I thought I read that somewhere on here
a while back. Now i'll have more decissions to make lol.
Also I don't have a bender as of yet,so improvising after I
get longer and bigger wire may come into play.
