I'm getting ready to start building a senior telemaster and it seems that quality build threads are not in abundance. I have searched for days trying to find some decent pics and general infoon the build and haven't really found much. Anyways I have build a few models before, two mini telemasters (one scratchbuilt) and a GP Gentle Lady. I bought this kit off a guy on the forums who started it many years ago. The tail was built poorly and damaged and the quality of the wood in the rest of kit was pretty bad so I'm just going to scratch build this one. I don't really like the way the fuselage is designed so I'm going to draw up some new plans. Instead of the balsa stick formers for everything aft of the wing, I'm going to make some out of ply. I'm also going to change the side sheeting to the shape of the mini telemaster (I think it looks better and adds a little more strength). In addition to the above changes, I will also be adding slotted flaps, extended rudder, servo for each aileron and flap, mount the rudder and elevator servos in thefuselage near the tail (no sense in two feet of control rods), take out some dihedral, bigger fuel tank for longer flights (24oz), digital camera for pics and video, bomb bay, and possibly tow hook attachment point for towing small sailplanes, probably no bigger than 2 meter. Will be powered by an O.S. .65 LA
I would like to see you pics and mods of any size telemasters to help spark ideas and to get me motivated to get started lol
In adddition, I'm specifically looking for close ups of thesenior telemaster fuselage before covering from different angles. Also, any thoughts on shortening the length of the fuselage by an inch or two (strictly for cosmetic purposes)?
Thanks!

Click the yellow "search" button to the right and above your first post. Then in the search box type
subject:"senior telemaster"
and you will get a huge number of links to all kinds of telemaster threads on RCU. I've been doing the same as I am planning a senior T build as my next project.
Post #11 in this thread, http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_79...tm.htm#7946515 , shows a clever idea for flap hinging.

I am about ready to cover mine with calendered vinyl. Here is what I have done to mine. One piece wing with spar webs front and rear out to 3 bays from the end of the wing, 2" sheeting top and bottom on the leading and trailing edge. Twin rudders with the servos mounted in the rudders, one piece elevator, flaps that work both up and down tied into the rear elevator working in the opposite direction, we use to do this on our control line models for tight loops. Made all my own hinges with no gap on the hinge line. For power I will be useing a stihl 23.6cc gas or a duropower 32cc gas. The wood quality in this kit was very bad, in talking with the kit builder he told me that balsa of any quality was getting real hard to get now, he did say he would hand pick a kit for me at a added cost. I have another senior on order and I will make this one into a mid- wing and my next one will be a low wing, by that time I will be 75, still farming still flying. As soon as I find out why my camera won't down load to my computer I will post some pictures.

I forgot there is no dihedral in the wing. I used a 1/4 scale servo for the elevator it is about 24" long. I used 1 std servo for the tail wheel, there is a total of 9 servos in the plane, I use 2- 6 volt lead acid jell-cell batteries to power the servos.

<span style="font-family: Times New Roman"><span style=""><font size="3">I was wondering how many posts it would take to get the "use the search function" comment. How about this, you type in senior telemaster in the search box and see how many quality threads you find. All you get is somebody converting the ARF to elctric power. I know my way around a forum or two. I have been in RC for over 6 years, I have been out of it for a while and had to get a new screen name, hence the low post count. But thanks for the link to the flaps. I saw that a few weeks ago and thats where I got my idea to take it one step further to make real slotted flaps. I wil try to scan up a few of my drawings and post them up sometime this week.
OS .65 will be plenty. I probably won't end up adding a sailplane tow hook but it even if I did, I'm sure it would have plenty of power to tow a 2M or smaller. So many people over power theirmostly stock platformswith .90s and you just don't get the flight characteristics that the plane was designed for. I'm not building it to survive crashes or 3D flight. You can build strong and light, it is possible. I will be hand picking my wood and redrawing the fuselage to get rid of a lot of unnecessary crap, I'm sure it will be plenty light. Also my digital camera weighs 3 oz max
Ken,
Sound pretty intense, definatly look forward to the pics. I read somewhere else of somebody doing a twin tail but never saw pics of it.
I will probably end up going with a 2 cell Lipo for onboard power for the servos, etc.
Again, looking for pics of your mods, builds, flying pics, etc.</font></span></span>

man the new search function is garbage, I hope it doesn't become permenant. I used the old search function and got a couple better results. I found this awesome thread of the 40 size if anybody else was interested.

cool twin rudder setup, I look forward to seeing it fly.
I wish we had enough snow here to justify having a set of skis but I'm going to build some floats instead

Triple Telemaster??
Here is a pic to prove it. I flew it a few times with the (3) OS .40 engines and then took off the center engine and cowled in the nose. It is now a twin Telly

Nice plane, bet the sound was good with 3 engines. My first telemaster had 4 OS 25s on it. The one I am building now has a 23.6 gas with twin rudders. Am waiting for my next telemaster to come, will be using a foam wing and stab and I am thinking about twin 21cc gas engines.
