ok while i was breaking in my engine, right after the 2nd tank ran empty and the engine shut off because there was no more fuel and after putting in a new tank and trying to start it for 20 mins it simply would not start... like the engine would REV at a stable mannor but everytime i try to get it running it would die out i'd have to pull out that annoying drill to get it started again. i'd here this thing that sounded like a "chime"-"ting ting ting" when i try to accelerate then it would just die out. whats the problem?? do i need to tighten my slipper clutch or something?

ok nevermind lol i figured out the problem, while it was making that click click click noise.. it was from a small borken teeth that got cut into the gaps... LUCKILY the entire teeth didnt break or else i'd have to buy a new one lol thank god it was only a small tiny part of a single teeth that broke!

alright that didnt seem to fix the problem... after this whole day of trying to break it in i only manage to get only a single tank! whats the deal here? why is it that everytime i try to get the LST going it dies out? everything is at stock settings. i checked for flooded engine, replaced glow plug, and charged all batteries, and still same problem.. this is exactly what i do tell me if im doing anything wrong.
1. turn on controller
2. turn on reciever
3. plug in glow plug
4. use the roto starter
5. lightly pull the throttle------->engine dies out and gota repete steps from 3-5 all over again. when i dont pull the throttle the REV is very stable but as soon as i try to get it to move it starts to die out!! another thing is that there is blue smoke but very little maybe i should richen it up more?? i just want to get through break in for godsakes!!

Yes, lean that out a bit, but I would instead turn both the HSN and LSN in all the way and reset to the settings in the manual.
Also, look at your fuel tubing right as it enters the carburator. I will often see air bubbles there after refilling my tank if I let it run completely out. Until the air bubbles are gone, my truck will die everytime I let off the throttle. So, what I will to is just give it enough throttle to rev the engine (still keeping it in place, with my foot if necessary), for about 15 seconds, and then give it steady throttle and circle it around for a minute until I feel that it won't die as soon as I try to idle. It has worked well for me so far.

no the chime noise is from the clutch bell i think. its not loud but its loud enough to hear. u can only hear it when u rev up the engine when u start it up, is this normal? i finnally got my truck going again now 3 more tanks and the "REAL FUN" begins!!

I have broken clutch springs on mine and I get the noises you are describing. I had no choice but to keep running today with them. THere are a lot of people having difficulties with the springs. I just started a new thread about this. Hopefull people will list what has been working for them so we can eliminate some trial and error.

Your truck will want to go even if you are not giving it gas. Once you then try and stop it the drag from the broken springs engaging the clutch will fight your engine and stall it. Trust me, I ran 2 races today with my brakes set almost to none so i would not stall the engine.

well my truck doesnt show any of that.. i mean even after applying FULL THROTTLE right after i rotostart it and pull off the glow plug it still wont GO it just sits there like a lazy dog.. i did everything i can to try tofigure out the problem and so far i think that it was just WAYYY to RICH after leaning the LSN a tad i was able to get another tank in before my pathetic glow plug died..
so far the only way i was able to get in 3 tanks today (breaking in still) was by leaing it out just a tad and slowly feeling out the REVS by pulling the throttle very slowly until the slipper clutch sticked and trying not to let the engine die out again.. after a few tries i was relieved that it started running again HOWEVER you say the symptoms of a broken clutch spring is the truck crawling as soon as u start it up right? and after applying the breaks it still struggles to crawl? well mine like i said just sits there like a lazy dog. so am i ok??

I agree with mudshed .checkem.. however, your situation was same as mine ...motor is very tight mine would stall on takeoff idele fine but try to take off and would die, lean our lsn a little , at about tank 4 this helped a lot ... but by tank 6 or 7 as the motor loosened a little the symptom you describe disapeared and i tuned for speed and the thing has performed like magic since.

Yup, it's just a rich, new engine. That's all. After a few tanks it'll get friendlier. It won't go because it's very rich. Try leaning the HSN a touch before you start messing with the LSN. Leaning the HSN also leans the LSN.
Give it a shove when you take off, seriously. It''l help you get through the first few tanks of brake-in without stalling, until you can start leaning the engine out.

It took me all of my 4th tank, with many stalls to get it to the point I could keep it running. I had to lean out the needles as well. Believe it or not my needles ended up 1 3/4 out on the low and 2 1/4 out on the high. I ran about 5 tanks through this weekend racing and it ran great with temperatures around 220 degrees. Just be calm and try an hour at a time when adjusting and dial that thing in good!
