RE: Official Muggy thread
Hmmm. Mine has zero steering slop now. Before, I could hold the front tires by hand and bump the steering on the tx. The linkage would move 1/8" in either direction without the bellcrank moving. Same with the tires, except much more, and it was impossible to keep straight. Now I can't move either tire by hand without the other moving. I did tighten my servo savers up a tad, too. I bought mine used, so my linkage could've been wore out before I got it.
If you do the 49t spur gear swap please post your results. I like the low end grunt more than top speed.
I finally got off work this morning and couldn't wait to play with mine with the fresh 454. I'm pretty sure I ruined it. I still had it tuned pretty rich. It started lean bogging and I ASSumed low on fuel. Ran and refueld real quick without pulling the body. It did it again and I was driving her back to me to check things out and poof, went dead. Pulled the body and gah!No air filter and it was way overheated. Turning it over by fingertip is easy It's still pretty warm but I'm not expecting it to tighten up much more once cool. I checked here to cool off my frustration and see StrangeRanger ruined a great engine too. I feel your pain

Willclark that stinks... I took my Mach apart today because I was going to port and polish the sleeve. But after looking at the cylinder sleeve I thought everything looked pretty maximized for the most part (on the sleeve). I see that you said 49t spur gear swap. Did you mean 48t or 50t ? I have seen both of these sizes for the Losi 8ieght that are lightened. These will fit right? I am going to purchase the 48t gear first. And will post results.

RE: Official Muggy thread
I agree with the steering geo. being crap, but after putting a new bellcrank/bushings and servo saver on I have very little play...I was thinking of putting bearings all the way around in the front end?? Ran it last nite in the yard and seemed to steer better(will tell if it holds on the track Thursday) There are some pretty HUGE jumps @ the track so i won't crank the SS down too much, but I think it makes a difference overall...This pic is from local track if I can down load it!!!

Willclark... I feel for ya brother. How far did your stomach drop when you popped the top and saw your air filter missing or just laying there? I thought I was gonna puke last Sunday when I did that.
My bud helped w/ some comic relief though. As I'm kneeling over the Mug in disbelief my bud walks over and says "Hey, w_t_f is taking you so long to...oh, oh my" Then he just pats the top of my head and walks away and says "I'll leave you two alone for a few minutes" LOL
What really sucks is I'm vehicle-less. My Revo is down too. So much for my two vehicle, always have one to drive theory.
Anyway, I'm gonna order up some bearings and tie rods today and see if I can't help w/ the slop. My LF wheel is just stoopid with wiggle. I don't really race, but it just drives me nuts.

RE: Official Muggy thread
Demi, I just typed 49t off the top of my head. I couldn't remember the exact tooth count that's available for the 8. I think the Muggy comes with a 46 toothed spur. With smaller truggy tires, a 12t bell, and either 48 or 50t spur it oughtta scream out of the hole. With truggy tires, a 12t bell, and stock spur mine was still a touch soft on the bottom if it had good traction with the wore out Mach 427 and had more top end than I need. I didn't get to push on the poor 454 to see how it did. I have no idea if any mods are needed to fit the 8 spur on the Muggy.
I pulled the sleeve out of the 454 earlier, and yeah, it looks pretty good stock. I'm gonna leave mine alone too.
StrangeRanger, yeah I bout cried. My stomach is still knotted. I didn't feel quite as bad when I read your story. Sucks about your Revo too. I worked 73 hours last week and didn't have time to do anything. I had about 50 hours in 4 days when I left yesterday morning. I couldn't wait to get home to beat on the Muggy since I'm off until Sunday, then this. I ordered a piston/sleeve that I HOPE will be in Friday or Sat. My luck gets better. I went to put my reciever in the LST2 to run it and managed to pull the antennae wire out. It was almost broke anyway from catching on stuff, but still. Nothing there to sauder it back to. Gotta love R/Cs! Good luck on gettin both of yours back runnin soon.
Mess, post some vids!

How about a basically un-censored board where you can post about any brand of product w/out having your post deleted? I've created a forum, small at the moment, that I'd like your feedback on please. You can find it here:
http://www.mugflap.com/index.php
Should sections be added under the vehicles for like engines / chassis / etc or just leave it as is done up by vehicle? Want more vehicles added? please check it out and let me know what you think. Thanks,

Geezz... the mod gods are worse on here than the T_____s forum.
But aside form that, has anyone tried to drill out the steering tie bar and fit it w/ bearings? Just wondering if I'd be wasting my time.

RE: Official Muggy thread
Stange Ranger I did the turnbuckle and ball end mod you offered earlier, plus replaced the bushings with bearings and my steering is really tight now. The only slop I have at all now is the left side bellcrank has the top support screw stripped, which allows the bellcrank to tip from side to side. I think I'm going to put a slightly larger, longer screw in it and I should be all set.

RE: Official Muggy thread
Hey fellow Muggy guys, i am looking into buying a new engine for mine. I am stuck between the lrp .28 and the lrp .30 which engine would yall recommend. I have heard great things about the spec 3 .28. Would it be worth it spending the extra 30 bucks on the .30 or should i just stick with the .28.any help would be great.
