The butterfly IS really cool. I bought one. Very fragile but it is an awesome little plane. Weighs less than a sheet of paper. I recommend if you get one to make it's first flights in a grassy area with no solid objects around. Get a second battery too, you'll wish you did later...
Here's mine:

Hi, I think this is my first post in this thread
, but if it isn't, whatever.
I got my Ace 3 days ago, and if you want my odd first flight info, you'll hafta look at pages 137-138 in the Walkera Dragonfly #4 Fixed Pitch heli thread. I thought I'd better take my Ace posts over here

Bwahahaha! If you want a PSYCHO slow flier, try this simple mod. It's two words: IN and SANE!! Step 1: locate your old bottom wings. Step 2: put the left wing in the right bottom wing holder slot, and vice versa. Step 3: if possible, stick the old wing support things back in their old indentations in the upper wing, but let them just sit on the lower wing surface.( if you don't have the old double-sided tape from the supports, use some of your own) Your Ace should now look REALLY weird, with the lower wingtips half covered in paint from when you originally removed them. Big Milo, if you're still out there, I've got you beaten with wing mods, I think
Think back to page 2....
Please note, ya don't get much altitude (unless you throw it just right) with this mod.

WOW, *great* moment with Air Hogs Aero Ace!
Thomas is a great guy, local quadraplegic, scoots all over town in his electric wheelchair, he retains limited use of his left thumb and forefinger. His right "hand" is much worse. Fairly well speech impeded but I understand what he says.
We are good buddies, if we meet at the Wells Fargo I help him with his transactions etc.
He was scooting by on his daily patrol . . . he saw me flying my stocker and stopped for a bit to check it out.
I brought it over to him and let him hold it while I goosed the throttle. He pointed the fan blast in his face and chuckled.
I flew it again for him and after awhile he wasn't looking at the plane, he was checking the TX serious . . .
I mean to this guy the gimbal that controls his wheelchair is his only means of locomotion.
I gave him the TX and held the plane in front of his face. I explained this thing worked much like his wheelchair. He rolled his eyes as if to say, "Yeah, I get it . . . dumbass"
He could work the throttle well with his left arm, the steering was another matter but this guy knows how to work with what he's got.
He blipped the throttle a few times and had it completely sorted.
He managed right left with his right hand.
I let my Aero Ace go under Thomas' guide . . .
He flew the damn thing for 2 minutes.
I thought he crashed, went to go get the plane, behind some hedge, but it was still flying!
This went on for another 5 minutes. Thomas really enjoyed himself.
I really can't imagine, being in a wheelchair.
But to know he can come to my house and fly?
It was a good day.

great story boscoj.
Ayrton this is what I am thinking of for winter, it rains a lot here in winter. At the local hardware store the have a styro glider with a 2' wing span. My plan is to put aa electronics, multiple lipos, and 6 motors. I plan on daisy chaining the motors. And using the rubber band mounting rig. I was holding out on this until you posted. Meantime, the bipes rock. And the jet is a different, but wonderful experience. Aeroacemods.com should make a few sales this week to humboldt county. Tim

Hi Tim
Is this the post you mean?
- either that, or you are a mind reader! I've been thinking about those foam 'penny gliders' too - I think I know the ones you mean - are they like giant versions of the little WWII free-wheeling prop foam chuckies? If so, I bought some for a friends god-daughters (on sale at our R/C nationals...the gliders that is ;-) and they flew great but were reported as being 'floppy' - so my plan is, double the thickness using 2 models and/or stiffen with cf.
I've also got a plan for winter - get 2 or 4 of the smaller chuckies and make a Twin Mustang (P81?) like Nick's - (or a twin Spit, or Me 109, or FW 190.....) all foam, printed in full colour, all die cut for under £1 total!!
Others feel free to copy this idea, but post pics!!
Cheers
Ayrton

I'm flying the AA as per stock at the moment coz it's going so well, but I aim to get another one when Maplin have them back in stock at £15 (August?) so one will end up with all the mods and eventually be a homebuild, hopefully in time for next winter's indoor flying season.

You can make a prop puller. I made one from an old dip stick.
You could probably pry it if with a couple of screw drivers but
you might cause damage to the motor.

When installing the new prop make sure you brace the back of
the motor with something solid or you might push the motor shaft
right through the plastic backing of the motor.

Just got my first AA at a local Target, $30 here. I have two questions, first, will the motors fry in the event of a water landing? Second, does anyone that lives in an area that has a Target selling 2 pack bundles for $18 want two free planes? I'll buy you a two pack if you buy one for me and ship it to me.

Hey all!
Inspired by my own idea above(
) I took a trip to Elvington Air Museum, York (great place, pic below, I’ll put a few more in my gallery)
In the gift shop I found exactly what I was looking for!
This collection of foam chuckies cost £7.20 – what’s that, about $12? 9 planes in all. I got four Mustangs to make up the P81, and spotted the Lanc in the picture & thought it looked possible. I couldn’t resist the deltas – Can you believe a VIggen, Mirage and Blackbird (..not really a ‘delta winged fighter’..) at £1 each!
Well, the Mustang is a dog. Early hogback canopy prototype, awful scale outline and badly printed. [&o] But the Lancaster is a revelation! W’span is 16½ inches so a bit smaller than your gliders Tim, appearance is OK, full colour camo both sides of the foam, floppy anhedral and an inverted curved wing profile(!) A bit nose heavy but remove two prop-mounts and she glides like a dream. They had a si,ilar B17 too.
I reckon stiffen it up with some cf rod and there’s an X-Twin guts host rtf. Any thoughts out there? Which motors should be powered, the inboard pair? Silverlit give us 2 spare props over here so there’s the two free-wheelers sorted.
(other building/ flying projects may mean that this has to wait for next winter’s indoor season)
Cheers

I am going to try all 6 motors w/ power. But am thinking about wiring them in series instead of parallel. I.E. the inboard would have the most power and taper the power down to the outer most motor. I'm not stuck on this however.
Has anyone tried the prebuilt aamods lit up plane? I keep threatening to buy one.

Arrrrgh! My AA has morphed into an old Air Hoggs Defender.
Well almost. I still need the AA RX & TX to charge the lipo.
What a pain charging but...

..I can still fly rings around you stock AA's! heh, heh[>:]

Here's a tip for those of you flying several AA's and using only one transmitter for charging.
Put only the top three batteries in the transmitters used for flying. All six are used only when charging the plane.
If you put all six batteries in transmitters used for flying, the bottom three are probably like new since the charging circuit draws only a small amount of current waiting for you to plug in your plane.
