Air Hogs Aero Ace!

It is a nice thing to know. But, I don't want to know how someone figured this out. I can't imagine anyone trying to fly the plane with only 3 batteries in the Tx to see if it works
No doubt, someone tested their batteries when they had to be removed, in hopes of finding some that had enough power left to mix with them with new batteries.
Necessity is indeed the mother of invention.
I just threw out 12 batteries last night taken from these Tx's. Probably 6 were good.

neurotex, how much does that plane weigh?

that added some weight making it about 30 grams. A bit heavy
which makes it faster with landings being a little tricky.
I miss the AA Rx and especially the AA TX. The AA guts can't be
beat for the price. Hope to get another AA soon!

Hello to all , This is my 1st post and I must say these little planes "ROCK". First off I would like to say Thank You to all in this forum for the neet mods and great info.To-date I have 3 Hogs ( 1 shaved mono w/lights - B )( 2 New Bips A,C ). In my opion the A's are the worst, B is the best. I also have the new jet , I played with jet for about 10 days and I must say I like my mono much better. So much better that when my mono died 4 days ago after hitting 1 to many trees. I took the guts out of my jet and put in my mono. WAY FAST it has a very fast climb rate and is a little out of control. I keep you updated after I have a chance to play with it this weekand.
Thanks Again

Hey guys! I while back someone posted a link to a small foam micro that they were using for indoor pylon racing in a barn... What was the plane, and does anyone have a link to a seller???
Thanks,
Heli

Re : Mono w/jet guts... It climbs like crazy !! It also turns like crazy !! I am going to try a couple of things. First - adding another battery for the CG and extended flight w/lights,night flight is my favorit time of day!!! 2nd is to extend the tail boom w/straw . Still to windy to try either. I have allready tried adding 1.5" to the top wing , it did not help the turning. I am also thinking of moving the motors out a hair to see what might happen. Will have to wait to see.. I know that I am a "NEWBE", but I think the steering mod is a must!! I have also converted over to 8 2650 mAh on my Tx and my Tx also has the 3 channel mod +++. I am not totally sold on 8's yet. It works but I like alk. better!
Can anyone confirm that the '06 controllers work better than the '05's?

LOL. I don't know much about building airplanes. You might not want to thank me until you've tried it.

iv already taken apart my aa jet and put them on a bipe. i got a channle ''a'' jet and the motors were not powerful at all, less than the aa bipe motors.

What a thread... many hours of fun reading, what an adventure for $30. Got my AA b radio plane 2 days ago. It may not have been mentioned yet that by holding the plane and listening to the props at full throttle, you can adjust the trim by ear and hear when the props are going into harmonics, which probably means they are somewhat balanced, at least at full throttle. Like tuning a guitar. Not too close to your ear though! Seems to help after a crash, or after the little kids have been playing with the trim. Also I check to see if the thing will glide straight, before my powered flights. Other than trimming off all the little nodules on the top wing surfaces which seemed crazy not to do, and removing a couple of stickers that I had put on, I haven't modified mine yet. Hoping tomorrow morning is mild. I would like to see a canard mod, and wonder if I should move the battery forward as seems to have helped many. The Aero Ace is just so much fun as it is! For me it's all about 'threading the needle;' I'm shooting for low speed, low altitude maneuverability, and payload capacity. One of the best parts is, ditching in the bushes then goosing the remote control to hone in on where it crashed!

Next modification for me - phone # and email address on the tail fins. -done. Next... work on technique tomorrow. I am new to r/c so I'm working on control tomorrow. It will be a simple matter to tape the balsa wood wing halfs to the current wing tips, tomorrow morning. I'll fold the edge of the tape over so I can pull it off again easily. I'm wondering whether they would be better on the bottom, or on the top wings. or maybe sit them on the bottom of the wing support at the lower wing, and tape across upper wing to get a sort of dihedral angle going from the two wings. add just a couple of sq. inches of lift area which would maybe compensate for adding the balsa plane's wheels, maybe on push pins. I'll try that now, maybe post a picture.

Here's the wing additions, this time to the upper. Pretty basic. And the wheels were easy, they look like they will move around and that is fine, they roll easy but don't wobble on their pin axles. moving in and out shouldn't matter. Seems to glide okay, maybe a bit nose-heavy now. I'll try it in the morning! If it doesn't work, I can always take 'em off and fly just fine without! the mold injection points on the botttom of the wings and the fuselage are really bothering me. they won't last much longer.

Hello everyone,
My first post here,,hope this info might help someone. If you get your AA hung up in a tree(not likely that would happen),,,I get out my fishing pole with a little weight on the end of the line and cast as close to the plane as I can. When the weight gets caught in the tree I give a little tug (or a big one if needed)and my little AA falls to the ground.I use old nuts and bolts for weight and a deep sea rod and reel with 30# test line.

Stumbled across this forum, and after reading everyones great input on these planes I went out searching. My first stop was at Target. They had 3 left on clearance for $13 each. Got all three
I have to say these little guys are loads of fun! Good job on all the posts, lots of good info!
Thanks

Thanks RC I'll do that.
Wecky, that sounds like an antenna problem. I would first take the controller apart and ensure that the antenna is wired securely.(On page 16 there are instuctions for taking apart the controller.) If that is securely attached, then you would have to take the plane apart, and check the connections there. You also said it was fairly new, you could bypass all of these steps and try to return it. Good luck, Tim
