One of my rear wheel dogbones on the Himoto Syclone is now a bow, i managed to take it off and use a hammer to get it straight again. Now i noticed that the rear center shaft is bowing as well, i think i need something stronger for these damn dog bones. Does anyone know of a substitute, HPI SAVAGE or MT2???!!?

I had one do the same thing on my volcano. On the rear right side wheel dogbone.I'm thinking a rock got stuck in there somewhere and the tire wouldnt spin and so it torqued it off like that. That was a few months ago,and havent had it happen since. So who know's?some things are stranger then fiction.

I also had 4 bent dogbones. U dont need hammer to staighten it. If it is bent in the middle you can use hands to straighten it! This metal is so soft that it easil bends. I think i will try hardening it by heating on my cooker and cooling in water then. It should be much harder, but too much force will break it instead of bending...wondering what is worse

I'm sure this one on the himoto could not be bent by hand, i had to use a hammer!! Dont think hardening it with the cooker is a good idea, at least when it bends you can get it straight again, if it breaks then you know what that means.

Anyway does anyone know of a compatible dogbone thats stronger?? I was thinking Hpi MT2 or the savage but i'm not sure!

hpi mt2 is not gonnawork, arms are longer and so are dogbones. My friend recently got mt2 and it is whole different car. Similar, but to some extent, definetely not the same.

Hey guys i was looking through tower hobbies dogbones and I found some that are pretty damn close to what we need to fit our cars.
They're 79.4mm's long so I don't think it should be too much of a problem. Only thing is they're a little bit pricey.

What do you all think?

I also found some that are 69mm and may work for the 70mm dogbone that we use. Although i haven't heard of anyone having any problems with those.

79,4 to fit in 70mm place ? I don't think that 1cm difference is not gonna be crucial.

Thats less than 1 mm difference, you won't notice the difference, if you look at the shafts the ends are designed to allow for travel of the shaft when the suspension rides up and down. If the DB is less than 1mm shorter you won't notice any difference!

Thats 9,4mm difference which equals to 0,94cm . if it was 70,94 vs 70 it would be ok, but 79,4 vs 70 won't

I thought that the shaft from the differential to the tires was 80mm. So that's only .6mm difference of a difference... should work.

The 70mm shaft goes from the transmission to the front diff. right? That's what you could use the 69mm dogbone for.
