Default REAR GEARBOX PROBLEMS!!!!!

Hey, it looks like i really screwed up, after a day of driving, i find out that the right rear wheel isnt spinning with the rest. Maybe a stripped gear in the rear gear box? Any help is greatly appreciated!!

Sounds like your rear diff is stripped out. Have you been doing alot of jumps? Landing at full throttle or full braking will tear up a differential quick. Both diffs are stripped on the kids Volcano right now. Waiting for the pinions from Clermont. Take the diff apart like futubaed said and look for chipped or missing/ worn teeth on the pinion and ring/big gears. If they're OK take the 4 tiny screws out of the big gear and open the diff itself. Check the spider gears and plastic housing for damage. If my stuff comes tomarrow I'll try and make a post to the FAQ with pictures of the rebuild for you.

Thanks for all of your help!! I opened up the r.diff. and the pinion and ring looked ok, and because im a novice, i didnt want to open up the rest untill I found out for sure thats it. do the front and read diffs. work the same? if you lift the rear end and push the front wheels forword, should both rear wheels spin, or just the left? my dad thinks its fine and working good because when one rear wheel is spun forword, the other spins back and so on. I really do appretiate your help though!!

If you spin both front wheels forward both of the back wheels should spin forward aswell.

If you spin one back wheel the other back wheel should spin in the other direction.
good luck buddy.

With the front end if you spin 1 wheel on the front while your holding the truck the other front wheel will spin the other direction,
Same Thing when you do it to the back wheels.

When you spin both rear wheels at the same time both the front ones will spin the same direction.

Please let us know if this helps ya out.

I had this problem also, with the right wheel not wanting to spin. I thought my rear gears wear stripped also, but I remebered that I really tighten all the tires down. I think I had them to tight, because I loosen them alittle and it know works fine. I also used lock tight on the bolts.

I have destroyed my differential gears on my volcano sv. There is a 35 tooth gear and a 17 tooth gear. The 35 tooth is the gear that needs to be replaced. Is there any one who offers a steel upgrade? If not where is a good place to find replacement. Also how do you know if your spring in your clutch bell is ok? It seems like it is hard to find hop ups for the volcanos transmission. Has any body installed a second gear? What other changes do you have to make if you install a second gear? Thanks for your input. I am a novice and hooked.

i would go with the direct drive, great upgrade, since you gotta get a new spur anyways, just spend a little more, you'll be happy

the direct drive is exactly what it says, it's a gear that is directly on the main drive shaft. it just takes out all of those excess gears, and give it more torque and speed, check out tihstae's link, and then there's another link in there to purchase it.
