Had a midair with the AirWild today. My left handed friend was trying to do loops around me while I was hovering. We hit. Destroyed his Ultra Stick 60, including the Saito 100. The AirWild ruined the left wing, the cowl, the landing gear, the prop and a lot of small cracks. I was able to land it but just barely. Here's some pictures. Dang, I was just starting to really like the plane.
Thanks

Good thing you have the 86 QQ on its way

I'm considering pulling the engine out of the AirWild...It wasn't hurt at all. It has exactly 2 gallons and 1 tank through it. I'm thinking about putting an already broken in engine in the Yak. This would perhaps speed up the comfort factor. Not having to worry about a flame out in a new engine. However, I gotta say...the DA hasn't skipped a beat. I was hovering it the very first flight and it's just ran flawlessly. I am hoping I'll get just a bit more power with the cannister that's coming with the Yak vs. the Pitts I have on the Extra. Then I'll repair the AirWild as I get time and put the new DA in it. At least that's what I'm thinking. For sure my time line on the Yak just got accelerated. It'll be here Wednesday. I'll start putting it together the same day.
Thanks

Dang Barry....
It must be something in the water, one of my buddies had a mid-air over at Lehi last Sunday with his new 2.3 Comp-Arf, with an IMAC event in St. George this weekend. Fortunately Comp-Arf got him the parts here on Wednesday and he went to the meet.
I think there's a lot of merit to the idea of using a broken in engine on a new model. I'm planning on taking the just barely broken in ZDZ-50 out of my Patty and putting it into the new Bunny I got, then I can evaluate the performance changes, if any, between the Pitts type muffle on Patty and the new canister I got from Tom. Problem is there's a local guy who want's to buy the Patty, but he wants my engine too. I finally told him yesterday the only way I'd even consider it is if I got enough money for another new engine. I hope he's not that serious...
First pic I've seen of your field. Little brother has suggested I come up there sometime to fly, but he's also said there's usually a lot of wind and that you can't get out there until May, something about sinking your vehicle in the road on the way out?
Oh well, as others have said it's incentive to get the new Yak up!

Zeeb...Been flying at out field for a month now. But I gotta admit...that's not usually the case. But the road is solid this year. Dusty in fact. I'd love to have you up for a flight or two. It'd be fun. The wind is usually blowing a bit but not really all the bad. I fly in the morning usually, that is better. Calmer. We have a wide open space. Runway is 60' wide and 600' long. On approach and runout there is light weeds but smooth ground. So...even if you don't hit the runway you usually don't tear anything up too bad. However, the grass is always too long in my opinion. I wish they'd mow it lower. Anyways, it's a nice place to fly.

Hey Pat,
I've not ordered anything from them for a couple of months but there wasn't a problem then. That was done over the phone as I had some problems getting answers to e-mails when I was trying to decide between the Extra Barry has and the new Bunny.
I was going to call them the first part of the week about a wingbag for the new Bunny, if I have any problems I'll let you know.
Barry,
Long grass might be a problem for my models, they've all got wheel pants.
The 33% Edge I just started flying only has 3 1/2" tires on it since that was what was recommended and the places I normally fly are asphalt. It also has wheel pants on it and since it weighs in at 24lbs. it might not take kindly to long grass...

Speaking of AirWild. Is anyone else not getting orders delivered from them, or is it just me? I've even sent e-mails to their info addy with no response.

I ordered all the servos for my new Yak from them. I ordered them about 3-4 weeks ago. I also ordered all the Smart Fly kill switches from them and the servo arms. I ordered a couple of spare props and a battery or two. Everything has gone right through...but it been several weeks. So...all I can say is they've treated me very good. thanks

Yeah, it's fixable. But I think I'm gonna take the engine out of it and install it in my new Yak. That way I won't have to worry about breaking in the engine on that plane. I'll also be able to evaluate the thrust differences with the cannister vs. the pitts muffler on the same engine. I'm gonna put the Extra on the back burner for a month or so until I can see fit to fix it. I may build the Ultimate before I fix it...or not. Anyways...now, somehow I've got 3 DA 50 sitting around and I don't know what to do with them.
Can I bring you the UCD this week? What day is good? I'll deliver and we can fly for a while. Wednesday?
Thanks
Barry
