Another one took to the air for the first time today. Flew very well and looks great in the air.

Kinda messed up my second landing and tweaked the nose gear a bit after a bounce.

Hi,
Just to say I received two sets of flights from Fireblade today , one each for myself and a friends CARF Hawk. They are beautifully put together.

I complement Alan on his tidy and painstaking assembly of all pieces ( we had 2 strobes/ headlight and wing tip lights).
We have full instructions with photos and a carefully set of packed product which some producers out there would be well advised to take a note of the standard achieved.

I know at this stage we have not fitted them and it may be a while to go yet before this happens but if you are thinking of lights for the Hawk this is worth a first visit. I am sure they will live up to the job when we finally light them up !!

Regards

David

Hi all...

How big a build job is this Hawk, maybe compared to the new Ultra flash, obviously not counting in scale detail... Keen to know, Maybe Dave W will share his thoughts...
And is any of the scale parts talked of being produced, surfaced yet...

Cheers Jeremy.

Whats the cost in UK, for the Der jet cockpit kit, and Fighteraces pilot.? Google Fighteraces and there is a web address but it doesn't work...
Whats the recommended Powerbox Power supply set for this Hawk.?
Does it need a gear door sequencer.?

Cheers Jeremy.

Jeremy,

Here is the address for Fighter aces http://www.fighteraces.co.uk

I have just spoken to him regarding a pilot he was doing for me and he said that he is unable to take further orders for pilots at present due to a supplier who is unwell at present but will back supplying them in the not too distant future.

Der Jet cockpit perhaps contact Motors and Rotors Dave Wilshere

Cheers

I use an Evolution PB. Depends on your Tx/Rx channels. With 12 you don't need a sequencer. Many people use the UP3 valve (one servo/channel) This is brilliant. I use 2 x JT JD valves and 22 channels.
Think my last Cockpit price was £399.99 inc tax

Does anyone sell a pre-made nose light for the CARF Hawk? I'm looking for the light + lens. Thanks!

Fireblade,
Is it a straight run for the cable feeding the wingtip nav lights and how did you make the lens covers?

The run for the wing tip lights is not too bad I aim to get the wire which is a small twin core to the aileron servo cover then I get it to the wheel well

The lens was made by heating up half a a 9x12 sheet of plastic and stretching over the nose/wing tips quickly Skywarrier on this post is just in the middle of fitting one of my sets so he might like to chime in.

It can take a couple of goes to get the feel for it but it does work!

Any questions please ask

Dubd: I do make the lighting set but you would need the circuit PCB to power/control the lamp unit etc and you would also have to mould your lens over your nose etc

I will have to take a moulding of someones Carf Hawk then I will be able to make copies more quickly.

The first Comparf Hawk to fly in South Africa.

We fly at 5000 above sea level and on a hot day the density altitude can reach 8500 feet.

Built and flown by Marc Bignoux.

Hi,
Just to say that I am very pleased with my lighting set up and the moulding of the front and wing tip covers was not a big hassle at all .
Tip : Hold heat gin in a vice so as you can heat the acetate sheet to very hot just before flopping into an uncontrollable mess ( thick gloves are essential) . Have another person if possible or indeed strap down the fus or wing so you can apply a quick ,hard stretching action over the nose or wing tip. Hold until it firmly keeps its shape. Hey presto light covers for very bright lights.
Regards

Damn! never thought of using gloves...

Glad you like them, just sent the set over to the guy in Australia who has just started his Hawk.

Has anyone tried this with a smaller turbine than P120?

I am eventually looking at getting a P140RX but, in the meantime, was wondering if it would fly with a P100?

I would have thought flying the hawk with 22lbs is a bit marginal' if you build it with very light batteries and a lighter thrust tube and keep the fuel load down you probably would get it to fly, however if I had had a P100 on my first flight no way would I have succeeded in the go around!

The P120 or now 140-RX is perfect for this plane plus it flies so good I would hate to risk it on a P100 []

Hi,
I am now going to try and fit my Der Jet cockpit to the canopy as one unit.

The cockpit pvc tub is smaller than the frame width. There are many ways I am sure to fit this and one of them is the best. I as yet have not thought of it so if any one has the "Clever Dick " method for these two components I would be grateful for some advice.

A photo or two would also be appreciated if there are any.

Thank you for your help

Regards

Darren

I actually think it would fly fine on a P100. I'm rarely at full power with mine, other than big verticals. A lighter tailpipe (smaller dia for the P-100 anyway) Wouldn't need 4.2ltrs of fuel either!

I did intend to drop a P-80SE in mine and fly it, but not got around to it yet.

I thought there were some shots about a year ago on this thread?

Ian,
At present I am looking at a weather forecast of ........ which leads me to think I will be building my Hawk in my new workshop.
Thank you for the offer which is much appreciated but it does not look good from where I am standing.

regards

Alan,
thanks for the photos which have made the process very easy. Two hours later the whole thing is as one with the canopy and also removable.

Someone out there always knows more than I do.

Its just something I have found out along lifes journey
