One of the best aspects of this hobby is helping out other people, which has certainly been made easier thanks to the internet
The back plate (the bit with 'REAR' printed on) is not glued or screwed, it locates in place firmly to remove you slightly bend to pop it out. This plate made out of black ABS sheet, just finishes the back of the cockpit off and stops the tank and air tanks being on show.

Light moulded glass.
Funny you should say that! meant to and it needs it..but not that clever/too excited!!. I wonder whether they will come off or make a noise!

Put me down for a set of red please I will ring you in bit
I vented the scoops on my smaller hawk but I do think that on the CARF Hawk especially if your a speed freak like the Germans :-) then they will need venting or I think you run the risk of them being ripped off!

Luckily I'm the slowest Hawk pilot around and hardly use more than 1/2 power.
Got your order, thanks. They are going to be £24.99 a set as the shipping was expensive from CARF.

I doubt they will be on the web site Dave has been asking for quite a few months regarding these, give him a shout if you want some they really finish the top of the Hawk off, they should have been included from day 1.
The newer kits have them included.

Can any of you Hawk owners provide the main/nose gear wheel sizes and the strut dimensions from base of retract to wheel axle on the scale gear? I want to purchase the C-ARF hawk, but refuse to pay as much for the scale gear as for the kit, I'm looking for possible substitutes. Any help will be greatly appreciated

The scoops look good. Is the lens on the strobe next to the scoops a solid thick piece of plastic drilled out for the LED or does it just look that way?

Just ordered a Hawk and I'm trying to get a list together of needed accessories. Has anyone used the recommended Robart air cylinders for the doors? The manual is a bit contradictory as they say the large bore air rams that come with the CARF air pack have approx. 1.5" stroke but the recommended Robarts have a 1" stroke. Just want to make sure they will work. Sometimes you can't always build up the base for the cylinder depending on the geometry. Thanks.

I'll check the manual...we all use the Robart 165 cylinders which are just over 1" from memory.
Scale tyres are sold in tiny numbers, I've had a set in stock 2 years, to carry that value on a return a business needs a margin!
The hobby deals with small numbers and no matter what you see, people are not making lots of money. The Hobby shop dept in England is huge and when its called in things will implode!

The strobes I milled out of solid perspex to the scaled down shape of the full size, if you look in this thread you will find the posts I did with reference to the NAV lights I built for my Hawk
They have a 700mAh Philps LED very bright same as what is used on Merc autos day light running lights.

I just realized that the Robart's have a female 2-56 threaded piston so it's easier to get more throw by adding more rod. I was playing around with some Airpower cylinders I already had which have a male thread so you are limited to that length.

I found my Hawk tires in the USA at a dealer who stocks Airtech as some of their aircraft share the same gear. They were $15 each vs $49 from CARF. That dealer made a profit, CARF's price was just not fair.
