Steve,

I basically set my wing to .5, and then from that made the tail 0. By doing this I ended up having to lower the front of the stab about 1 turn on the adjusters to get the elevators at 0, but this worked well for me.

I've been very happy with mine. I intentionally even let it sit out in the sun at the field yesterday to see if the covering wrinkled up. There was one small spot on the right stab that had a bubble, but other than that everything still looks new. I've been extremely happy with how mine went together and it flies even better.

Arch,

The same for me. I set the plane in a foam stand with the wing at .5 degrees and then set thestab at 0 degrees. It seems to be a good starting point.
I'm currently trying to find a cg that I like. Where are you running your cg (As in mm from the leading edge)? The instructions say 190mm to 210mm.

Terry,

I'm running mine a little further forward than he recommended. I'm running mine at about 175-180mm. With the canopy off, mine balances just behind the bolts that hold the wing on.

I really like the feel of a much more forward CG. Plane still snaps awesome with the CG where it is, but I have 0 pitch mix in either direction.

V3.25 is what I'm running. Don't forget to turn on the outrunner feature if you have one. The new Ice Controllers are really good. Mike</p>

Are the ICE ESC any more robust than the HV series? I've had 2 of 2 fail now.

Can you please elaborate on the two ICE ESC failures? What went wrong?

I never said I had an ICE failure. I've had two HV series esc's die. My 85hv and 110hv died. I'm hoping the ICE are better.

The 85 just changed the throttle settings on it's own then died. The 110 was dead after I flew it. There is a thread on the 85 issue now. It mirrors my problems.

What is the starting datum that you guys are using to measure your incidence angles?

Do we use the model sitting at a position that gives the 0.5 degree wing angle then adjust the tail, and if so, what thrust angle was that giving you? Matt13

hi matt,
jig the model so the wing is giving you +0.5 deg , on the wing and fix the model steady at this point , now adjust your tail in to 0 deg on both sides and lock it off , ref to the thrust line i have et mine to the nose of the model , and will adjust the thrust lines if required, hope this helps.

Hello all,

Does any of you owners of the wind S, can give some comparison to any other recent plane flying FAI? like, Axiome, Osmose Evo, Integral, Onas...... any.

I really like the airplane, and always see Silvestri flying with the wing fences, but do not see anybody else on this thread using it.

Regards

I have talked to Chris Moon and he was going to email Silvestri to try to get the templates for the wing fences so that I could try them. I've flown Integrals, Black Magics, a couple of Visa's, Passports and many others, and this is certainly a competitive airframe. Being a mid wing design it presents better in rolling maneuvers than anything I've ever flown. I have no complaints on it. I wont say that it is the greatest flying plane ever, but it certainly flies as well as anything else I've flown. The airframe certainly wouldn't be a limiting factor if you were flying it.

Steve,

Very cool. That is almost identical to what mine needed. I then just slightly adjusted the stab to get rid of the elevator trim and have done nothing else with the adjusters since.

Also,

After you drilled the holes for the stabs in the stab tube, did you pull the stab and look at the tube. Mine was just slightly short and you had to be careful that both holes actually had some "meat" around them. If you pushed it all the way in to one side and then drilled the holes one would be about 1/4" in and the other would be right at the edge of the tube or even worse, just slightly out of the tube. It may not be an issue for you on yours, but something to check anyway.

hi arch,
had 6 flights today to trim the model up and set a few mixers , minimal knife edge mix and a tad on of down at low stick on the throttle, regards
to the tail tube you are spot on , could do with being a little longer as i drilled 3m in to mine and run cap heads, to be honest i have just orede another one this week , they are great value for money and a great model , the composite wings are out very soon and will fit straight on to the planes we own , so that will be a must to try.

regards
steve

Steve,

Glad to know you are happy with it. I plan on getting another one as well. I saw where you placed your batteries. I shifted my CG slightly forward of where I'm guessing yours is judging from the battery location in the picture, and the knife edge mix went away and it didn't affect anything else. Snaps are still ultra crips and so are all the rolling maneuvers.
