If a rear induction conversion kit was made available for the DLE 30 would you buy one to retro fit your existing engine?

Cyberwolf, [email protected] has designed one and is waiting to see how many people would be interested before going into limited production. I thought I'd ask the question for him.

The kit consists of a new back plate and reed block with an estimated price of $125.00. This will vary based on the number of people that order one.

The prototype was tested by Jody @ Valley View RC, it allowed for a 1450 rpm idle and resolved all fuel pooling issues.

I would be interested once I was convinced there are no design issues and the engine performed reliable. Certainly it would help solve the issue of the carb hanging out the side of the plane.

I'm in. I know the benefits a rear induction case for the 30 would have.

With the intitial price of the engine and the conversion, your over the price of a DLE 55. Maybe the factory should fix their own mistake, but Cyber can fix them if they won't.

Regardless of what the factory does or doesn't do to improve or simply re-orient the DLE30 crankcase, they most likely won't make anything to retrofit over 3000 engines already in the marketplace. Cyberwolf's design gives those engine owners a viable option to change the location of the carburetor to fit any applications that the current design won't. For those that are flying test benches, it will give them relief from any fuel pooling isues causing deadsticks when the stand is tilted.

The DLE stock is about 39 oz I believe.. not sure what the 55 weighs but some people might even pay more for what they need in the smaller package

I'm not that inconvenienced by the DLE30 tilt issue so it not worth dismantling a perfect aircraft[8D]

Sounds like a lower idle too with the conversion

I've idled mine on the bench ( in stock form ) for 4 minutes straight and it snapped to the same as always

I didn't put a tach on the idle but my 10lb aerobatic floater lands fine with a 19/8

I would buy 1 at $125.00, worth it just for the security of not having to land $450 worth of 73" yak  prop and muffler and $ 500 worth of servos and receiver dead stick as i hav had to do several times with the current DLE 30 intake.

It's OAL is 6-1/4"if you use the stock DLE55 stand offs, about 1/2" could be shaved off of that, cut a hole in the firewall as is done in many other applications, I just did it to a 73" Edge 540 the prototype is going into, very easy.

I would buy 3 and have about 4 others with DLE 30s in our club that would if i can show them the great improvements it would make with mine. Even though all mine run good with not much issues I would buy them just to make them better.

Jody does have a way with words sometimes...LMAO. That was priceless. Put me on the list for one as well and we will see if we can get enough demand to make it worthwhile. I don't have a 30 right now but most likely will in the near future. If I don't end up with one I can always sell it to someone else up here that does...no biggie.

You guys make fun of the bench runners. I have some three dozen engines and usually only fly the devil out of two or three of them in a year. Some of the ones I don't fly get run on the bench and some stay in the drawer.

I used to have more engines but I sold around 20 of them.

I have four 30 cc gassers I havent run in a few years.

I'm with you Jim, I like engines and I most certainly spend more time flying my test bench than my planes. I wasn't really making fun of everyone that runs engines on a bench, just those that seem to prefer it over flying an airplane.
