New 50cc Evolution
#1
I see that Horizon Hobby anticipates the new 50cc in July. Currently I am running a 45GX2 with great results, but always wanted 5 cc more power. For practical purposes lets say that my 45 has 1.85hp /lb. Factory specs. Does the 50 have the same or greater rating? I see that the engine is 9 oz heavier and it must make 6.2 hp to match the power to weight of the 45. Would it be worth a swap? What will it swing a 22x10 to? My 45 swings a 22x10 to 6900 rpm.

Adam,
MVVS does not have any 50 cc on their site...
Can you please post a photo of the engine anticipated by Horizon (I couldn't find it in their site either...), so it can be determined if this is an MVVS engine, or not?
If not, MVVS does not support it.

Thanks for the heads-up, James.
It must be a stroked-down (probably a bit lighter) 58 cc engine (no mention of a magnesium crankcase, a la 45 cc engine, or a specific weight).
It does not appear in the MVVS line-up yet.

MVVS is still very hush-up about the engine.
It is a 43cc stroke crankcase with a blown-up cylinder.
The nipple up front is so the factory/user can apply extra lubrication for the front bearing and seals.
When in NĂĽrnberg at the Toy fair, several engines were equipped with this feature, along with increased play between crankshaft and crankcase.
If you study their flyer leaflet closely, you can see it at http://www.mvvs.cz

So in theory can those of us with the 43cc MVVS' simply replace piston, ring, and head to have a 50cc? I have one 43 that stripped the exhuast mouting tabs and the ignition went bad (I have a new style ignition which would require me to buy a new head anyway to work with the ignition) so if I have to outlay the $$$ would be nice to build it into a 50cc...
