Ok guys,
My good buddy Phil and I purchase the bobcat 25 from nitro planes and have flown them 4 times now. What a really nice flying plane and very fast with the os32 engine. The building of the bobcat is good for the most part, but there are a few design flaws. The nose landing gear is too short and doesn't extend high enough to connect the wheel coller...My buddy designed a fix for this and it really works great. Also, the bulkhead for the nose wheel is week and will break on not too soft a landing. The main gear is also weak and will bend back on hard landings. If you are building one of these great little planes you will be very pleased with the quality of the fuse and covering. Be sure to set up duel rates because on landing the little plane is very sensetive and cannot be slowed too much or it will drop out of the sky. My flying buddy and I are so please, that we bought the 50 size, which is on sale now. We will be putting 52 size engine in these with retracts.
I know there are some posts on here that complain about the after sale service, but I must say that NITRO PLANES has treated me very good. I will probably buy the 120 size and I'm sure the flying will be just as good if not better than the 25 size. Let me know if any of you have built and flown this great little model from Nitro Planes.

I've been searching for the right electric power, but cost of large battery may deter me. So, now I'm looking at two-strokes.
Can you estimate the speed you're getting with the OS32? What prop are you running?
thanks!

Like I said before this is a great model to fly....My only problem is landing...it is a difficult plane to land...it slows down very quick and then it seems to lose the control surface. I have flown it 4 times now and not a good landing yet. I am using a 9x6 prop and I would guess it flies around 75 mph...it is quick and I really like the way it flies....not sure what I will do about the landing. Also, the takeoff is really smooth and easy...Great flying plane....

Here is a link to mine fklying with electric on 850 watts and retracts that I added to it. I haven;t had any problem landing it. In the vid you can see it land after the motor cut out and it made it all the way around the field.

Brian,
Looks like it does just fine. I am really pleased with mine and just can't figure out why it is so difficult to land. I have another one and also the 52 size bobcat so I am committed to getting it to land propertly.
thanks for the pics, video and post.....

Brian,
Thanks for the suggestion,,,,I didn't even think of that and I will balance ahead of the wing tube....I will fly Tuesday and will let you know the results. I am balanced at the suggested point.

Around 800 watts seems to be the magic number for me too.
I swapped my motor out for an 893 KV 26V motor which I am running now at 22volts.
I have two 3900mAh packs in series installed.
Power is no longer an issue for me.
Of interest is that the second pack added around 10oz or more, and the plane has no problem with this.
I believe I'm just over the glow engine weight, but have a heck of a lot more power than say a .25 to a .30... I'd assume that I have about the equivalent of a .32 engine now.

Thanks!
Actually I am not that happy with 800 watts. I have a new setup that will have 1100 on 6s. 50mph more pitch speed and about 40-50ozs more thrust!
That should make her go!

Even in Tumbler's video you can see that he is coming in hot. However he is landing on grass which slows the plane almost immediately.
When I do a similiar landing on asphalt, the plane takes about 500' to slow down enough to start turning it w/o scraping the wheels too much...
Adding "spoilerons" does help a lot for approaches.
Short of brakes, I'm also considering mixing in a "speed brake" setup that thows out all of the surfaces at once.
Doing so will be interesting as taking both rudders out, causes the plane to pitch up... so I need to get the right mix...

Ran my new setup. 6s on a 36mm Medusa 1300kv. I cut down a 7x7 cam prop to a 6.25x7. I get 1300 watts at full charge and about 1100 half way through the pack. Hopefully this flys it well. Going to try and get out to the field this weekend.

I ended up going to 6S as well on a 900kV motor with a 9x6 prop, the plane flies very well, but it can accept more pitch speed.
It draws about 600-700watts burst this way, but I should be able to crank that up to 950watts with a larger higher pitched prop.
