Didn't feel like actually MAKING food tonight.

Settling for Stouffer's French Bread pizza.

Box of nine for $14 at Kroger right now. Get at it! They're DEEE-LICIOUS.

Those are pretty good and that's a pretty good price too.

Hearing about Kroger makes me miss Florence, KY and Cincy a bit.....I guess it's time to break out some of the Empress or Skyline seasoning packs and cook up a big ol' pot and have some 3-ways

frets, ThunderbirdJunkie is gonna cook a pot o' Cincy-style chili just for you tomorrow night.

However, ThunderbirdJunkie is going to eat it all.

Neat coincidence-the girlfriend is from the Outer Banks. She lives in Covington now.

[X(][X(]AAARRRGGGHHHH!!!!!!!! SACRILEGE!!!!!![X(][X(]

You just have no understanding of a STAPLE in the southern Ohio/northern KY diet....It has to have the cinnamon!!!

PM me your address and I'll send you a pack of the propriatary commercial seasoning, on me, along with and revision of the package instructions for the perfect pot. That is, unless you know of a prohibition against mailing packaged spices into Dubai. The cinnamon isn't overpowering...just a hint of it.

I've tried to duplicate this at home and never been able to get it "just so". Now I just order it by the 2 dozen pk lot and whip it up a few times a year...mind you it takes 3 pk's to feed this army(mainly me) and have a 1/4 pot left for snacking on over the next 1 or 2 days.

Same offer for our friend Sheo, since we seem to be the regulars

Hmmmm, OK if it's just a background note then. I've had chili that was cinamon over-powered before and it just wasn't pleasant.[:'(]

But I'll give this one a go.

TBJ,

Looks like we'll be enjoying that treat together, though in different parts of the country, on Saturday evening. I'll cook it all evening tonight and then refrigerate, peel the grease off the top and reheat for dinner tomorrow.

Neat coincidence with your girlfriend. We lived off of Buttermilk pike and then later off of Gunpowder Creek while I was active duty component of an Army reserve unit that flew out of Lunkin and Rickenbacker in '87-92. Spent a good deal of time instructing out of Batavia as well...just about right in your backyard if I recall the area correctly. Still get a chuckle out of "Big Bone Lick'' state park where we had an annual RC fly-in with the club

Hahahah, Big Bone Lick. That's just wrong.

Hmmm, may be interesting to research America's silliest named places.[&:]

Thanks again Frets. Look forward to trying my hand at the Cinci 5 way Chili.

I remember having it once or twice at a restaurant when I was a kid. And I do remember enjoying it and all the different flavors and textures.

Cinnamon is great IF the chili has a lot of meat in it. That is one totally underestimated spice when it comes to red meat, but a little goes a long way, just like garlic!

HAHAHA, ThunderbirdJunkie tells the old lady every time we pass that sign "That's not a location, that's a command."

Then she says "but it's only me and you, where am I gonna find that?"

There's a new indoor RC track going in at Redbarn where the flea market used to be.

Big Bone Lick is in N. Kentucky, not far before the 71/75 split.

TG32,
It's on its' way to you. Had a bit of a discussion with the PO lady and she got a bit PO'd with me 'cause I insisted that there was no zip code for Dubai, U.A.E. and she wouldn't post the envelope without one........she became very sheepish after her little show and my "making her work" to look up the zip herself and discovered.......THERE ISN'T ONE!!! What's up with people these days?

...And, yeah, it would probably be interesting to find some of the strange and silly names of places here(and abroad). I always liked "Truth or Consequences" and "Socorro"(Spanish def: HELP!), NM.

TBJ,
My wife was looking over my shoulder and read your post....she was "LMAO" and said "you go girl!" Ref: your girlfriend.

Leftover burger for me and other sundry items here tonight. The teens are out and I'm hogging the stovetop anyway so no sense in making a production out of it. ([&:]SSSHHHH!!! I sneaked a couple spoonfuls of chili on mine......)

Well frets, at least she kept her personal side arm where it belongs and didn't finally snap when she was shown how wrong she is......again...

Thanks again for the care package.

Tonight it's lamb kofta meatballs in a tomato sauce with mint, parsley and lemon juice. That's served over Basmati rice with peas (Peas Pulao), steamed brocoli and salad. [8D]

Ha!! Notice the yellow color on my thumb.... That's from the tumeric in the meat mixture.

Turned out pretty good actually. This meatball recipe keeps them amazingly moist.

Doing a light one tonight.

Simple salad of baby spinach leaves, sliced mushrooms, sliced red onions, chopped avocado and really thin slices or strips of salami tossed with a home made dressing and spicy blackened sole. [&:]

So there is this new Mexican place 300 feet from my apartment, I had a Chile Verde pork burrito there yesterday and it was practically sensual it was so good. I'm going to get another one (or try something else on the menu) tonight. I love Mexican food, it's one of my favorites. Here in San Francisco we have lots of good authentic places too. Though even Americanized Mexican can be good, but I prefer the real stuff.

You're making me home sick Sheo...

I can eat breakfast, lunch and dinner at the Taco stand down the street from home in San Diego every day...it is that good and that's how much I love Mexican food.

Out here, I'm pretty much on my own . Luckily, I can get a decent amount of the raw ingredients.

Well.....I was going to get the turkey ready....but the store sold out of young butterballs (well....butterball anything actually) and only had fresh turkeys. Sorry, but there is NO WAY I'm dropping over a hundred dollars on a turkey.

As an option I found some fresh turkey breast in the chicken section. That's what's getting roasted off tomorrow.
