RE: Fusion ARF
Jay, that looks like a Copperhead Aviation plane, maybe the one shown on the Toledo clip at the OMP booth. It wasn't on the OMP web site, where did you get the plane/picture?
I am happy to hear OMP is picking up the Copperhead Aviation planes, I have the "Stiffy" Extra and the YAK foamies which are better than any other foamie I've seen. The foam is about 3/4" thick and with a bonded covering they call snake skin, and powered with a Hacker 20 motor. Really rugged.
I know this is a Fusion thread, but also an OMP perhaps (?).
Regards, FRED

Thanks for the comeback, I'm still grinning. I love the color scheme, and it is also on my stiffy and the Copperhead Aviation "woody" shown in the Toledo OMP clip which you may have seen.
From what I've observed, you did the smart thing buying the white Fusion and trimming it.
Question: Have you been able to get a really good flat spin with the Fusion? In my club we have a really good 3D pilot who repeatedly hovered and tail touched his U-Can-Do 46. Then he bought two Mojo 65 planes. Then he bought a Fusion and he prefers the Fusion to any plane he has ever owned. He loves the plane's performance. However, he hasn't been able to get a good flat spin.
My two best upright or inverted "really flat" spinning planes are my Twist and a Spinsation from Morris Hobbies. Climbing inverted flat spin anyone?
I hope you will comment.
Regards, FRED

RE: Fusion ARF
Fred, The flat spin is decent but not like the short coupled mojo I'm shure. Now the knife edge spin is really good. Yes I prefer this airplane over all others for EXTREME 3D or things I'm not yet willing to do with my 35% Yak. Larry and I will do side by side rudder in the grass torque rolls on every flight with these things. They really spoil you the way they are so light and powerfull with the OS 120s we are running. We stage in side by side hover and have vertical drag races, that is an incredible blast off. Larry said it's the only plane he worried about fluttering going vertical. Yeah, did I mention we love Fusion!!

Sounds like your YAK should be pretty awesome.
I'm not surprised you also like the Fusion, maybe Larry should buy a white one and trim it in his own color scheme.
My friend, Dave is running a YS 110 in his Fusion and is very happy with a 15-6 prop.
He has a YS 140 in his Mojo 65.
Is your OS a 2 or 4 cycle and which size/pitch prop are you using? Maybe I will have to get a Fusion even with the present covering. I have an older YS 120 on a Dave Patrick bipe I will probably use on my Fusion.
We finally have some good flying weather coming up this week.
Have fun and thanks for your comments... FRED

I assume
you will be putting a .46 on the smaller Fusion, not the 90 size.

RE: Fusion ARF
Sometimes I cut and paste text from manuals and for the 40 size profiles you can pretty much use teh same range of engine for all models. The Saito 82 has been pretty popular the last few years for 40 size planes. Lots of power for sure and certainly more than most people need. You can use the 82 size motor but manage your throttle wisely.

RE: Fusion ARF
Brunito, I run a Saito 72 on my 52" Fusion. With a 13x4W prop and 15% fuel it has plenty of power. I hold mine verticle and let go on take offs. I already had the 72. If I was buying new I would use the 82. Not because it needs it but because my engines out last my airframes. So the 82 could be used later on a bigger plane.

I'm smiling...my engines outlast my airframes also. Seems all planes have an expiration date.
A really flat flat spin, inverted and upright, is something a few of us in my club try to achieve. If you have tried this in your small Fusion, I am interested in your results.
There is always a pissing contest between Ford and Chevy cars, just like between Saito and O.S. and other engines. In my 33 years of flying, O.S. wins.

RE: Fusion ARF
Mine will do a so-so upright flat spin. Inverted I can get it really flat. Read the post in this same forum called "52" Fusion ARF flat spin".
It is a couple post below this one. If you still can't get it let me know. I will pay closer attention next time I go out to how exactly I am getting it in. I will say though some throttle is needed.
