RE: ParkZone J-3 Cub RTF
Does anyone have links to Parkzone birds that are in G3x format? I have most of the fleet but haven't seen any set up for G3. I've heard there's a G3 file floating around for the Slow-V and the J-3 cub.

Thanks for the compliments on my J-3 FMS model.
Hray2 - download it again and see if it responds better. I tweaked the control surfaces a little.

RE: ParkZone J-3 Cub RTF
Justletmeseasrch....I have been looking for an FMS version of the J3 Cub for sometime so thanks very much for this!!!
I just tried it and it does fly very much like the real deal. I must need to make some sort of adjustment though because there's no rudder response. She turns when I give aileron input. I'm using my Hitec Laser 4. It's the same situation when I try to fly an FMS version of the SD by PZ. No rudder response. Is there something I need to do to make it 3 channel? There are other 3 channel planes I have on FMS that seem to work with rudder and elevator input only so I figured it's already programmed into the model....
Thanks again for a great looking and flying PZ Cub. And thanks for any suggestions on the rudder thing so I can fly it as real as possible. Seems weird using elevator and aileron for the Cub...

RE: ParkZone J-3 Cub RTF
Edit.....I think I can answer my own question after giving it some thought....the PZ 3 channel planes are designed to be flown on a single stick with rudder and elevator control. When using a 4 channel TX I presume that on a 3 chanel plane in FMS the inputs are governed by a single stick and presumably that would be the right stick which controls elevator and ailerons. But in the Cubbie's case it's actually rudder and elevator with the left stick just controlling throttle.
Sounds plausable to me but if I'm missing something please let me know.....[8D]

I believe you have that right. No ailerons, so the right stick controls rudder.
I have to admit that I didn't give it much thought as I'm using FMS with a single joystick, and all I've been messing with are 3 channel aircraft - so I mapped the rudder to the "left-right" axis of the stick.

JLMS thanks again for a really nice PZ Cub. It does fly very much like the real deal. In fact, if the winds behave today I';ll get a few flights in along with my .40 Alpha. Gotta love this flying stuff....

RE: ParkZone J-3 Cub RTF
Im about to buy the spectrum DX6 from here:
http://www.horizonhobby.com/Products...ProdID=SPM2460
Could someone tell me if this controller would work with whats in the piper cub? Such ass the motor and servos if I where to just put the receiver in there? If I just put the receiver in the piper would the motor work with the spectrum DX6, or would i need to get something such as a ESC for it to work?
Any links would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

Stock servos would not work with the Spektrum Rx. Stock are 5 wire , the rx uses the industry standard 3 wire servo plug. Also you would have to buy an esc as the stock rx has it built in. Motor would work though, once you got everything else replaced. [&:]

RE: ParkZone J-3 Cub RTF
Take a look at the E-Flite versions from Horizon, like the 20 or 30 amp versions.
Between $35.00 and $40.00
Comes with an on/off switch, you can either use it or disable it.

So this one would work:

I know it has a brake and i dont need it, ill just leave the wire in the fuseslage.
Will that be ok and will this be just as good/better then the on that came with the piper?

RE: ParkZone J-3 Cub RTF
i would recommend the gws 15a escs over the eflites...they are 20.00 cheaper, they don't have a brake (which is what you want with the cub) and the throttle response is more linear or proportional...

RE: ParkZone J-3 Cub RTF
justletmesearch, great model on the j-3 for FMS! Only thing: both control throws seem to be way too high, the rudder was 44 degrees and the elevator 10 degrees. I thought it flew a lot more like my Cub with rudder adjusted to 30 degrees and elevator 8 degrees.
Anyone who wants other FMS models of the Parkzone fleet:
Gary Gunnerson has made models of the PZ FW-190 Butcher Bird, Slow-V, Super Decathlon, and F-27B Stryker. The PZ P-51 is at the bottom of the page. go to gunnerson.homestead.com/files/fms_models.htm
I've made a PZ Typhoon and the new F-27C BL Stryker. PM me if you want them.
Great Cub, justletmesearch!!!

RE: ParkZone J-3 Cub RTF
Does anyone elses plane ever Everyonce in awhile have the rudder servo decide to be way off of center for no reason... then you have to take the servo horn off and re allign it? I have had this happen a couple of times now in the last two years of flying. The last time it resulted in a bad crash. This is irratating! lol

RE: ParkZone J-3 Cub RTF
On Ebay, search for parkzone and find where hobbydealsusa sells Hobbyzone planes and parts....as far as i know they are returned or damaged items from Horizon Hobby...I got a cub for $51 + $16.50 shipping. All it needed was a little repair on the rudder and it flies great. It had never been assembled or flown still in factory box. I also won a bid for and am waiting on delivery , a lot of cub parts for $157, that includes 6 fuselage with servos , electronics , motors and gearboxes, 2 batteries , 3 transmitters, 3 landing gear, 3 chargers and more... i can't figure out how to include a link to hobbydealsusa on eBay in this post so a search should get you there....Denny
