if i was you i would save a bit more money.. it is a 2 channel plane, and they are incredibly hard to learn to fly with, and once you have learned to fly it, it would be mangled, even though it would fly, it wouldnt fly nicely
what a two channel plane?
its where it uses the speed of the motors to go faward and to increase the AOA, it turns by slowing 2 of the motors.
some planes you might want to look into that are a good bang for the buck, are the slowstick, or the tiger moth by GWS, or a wingo which is distributed by hobby lobby.
the easiest and overall, the funnest to fly are the 3ch+ planes, the channels usually used are elevator, throttle, rudder.
if money is a big issue then you might want to check out some of the hong kong models being advertised through ebay, i have tried the Goldeneagle XXl and it flies ok but not a begginers plane, too fast.
i even just then had a look on your UK ebay , and, there are way more good things there then at our auzzie one..

Hi,
Another nice plane and very much comparable with the Wingo is the Wing Dragon... There are some for sale in the market place here. It's very easy to set up for a beginner. It's stable and can fly real slow. Best for beginners...

If i were you i would get a plane like the ones already mentioned, but if you want to spend less that $100 i'd go for one of the models like the Firebird 2 or the Firebird XL or one of the other more advanced models but no dont go for that it isnt even worth its weight in foam.

HEY I BOUGHT MY B-29 BOMBER FROM CEDAR HOBBIES AND THEY OFFER GOOD SERVICE AND GREAT RESPOND ON ALL THEIR STUFF , THEY EVEN OFFER PLANS ON HOW TO CONVERT IT TO OPERATE ON RUDDER/ELEVATOR CONTROL . THE PLANE FLIES FINE BUT YOU HAVE TO GET USE TO THE MOTOR CONTROLS ,ONCE YOU TURN ,YOU MUST ADD POWER TO GAIN UP ALTUTTIDE.GOOD LUCK .

Thanks Neil for the info about the flight time.
I have the regular NiMh battery from the kit. I just received my B-29 yesterday. This model have a realy nice look! Can't wait to fly it! Hoppfuly on Monday if the weather is ok. This is a 2 channel plane with thrust vectoring, but there is some room inside the fuselage that would easly allow 2 micro servo and a ECS... Here are some picture :

I just had my maiden flight with my b-29 this morning...
6am, the sun is rising and the sky is just a little bit hazy, I have the plane in my hand full engine running. I am a little nervous, don't want to break the model for the first flight. So I take a deep breath and hand launch it... after a slight downward motion to catch speed the b29 start to climb very smothly. I start a right turn and woaw it is so smooth! This airplane fly as good as it looks! I have some experience with other 2 ch model and usually they are a little nervous and unstable when they turn, but the b29 is not one of them! Every thing is smooth about this airplane, it very fidel to the real b-29! I fly around the filed, make some turns, the rising sun reflect on the plane as it turns, it was so beautiful... A silver bird that slide quietly in the morning sky. After a good 8 minutes, I decided to bring down the plane I didn't wanted to push it to the limit the first light . I align the plane with the wind and let him slide down. The control are very precise and smooth. I align the plane on a small dirt road and it make a nice rolling landing. As I pick up the plane I was still a little bit shaking and I thought to my self : " Cool, I just flew a B-29..." As Marcel Dasslaut said : "I nice looking plane will always fly well".. well that true with the B-29. It is realy worth every dollars it cost... I love this airplane!

Hi SaMx
Below is what I found about the 3 channel conversion on a forum at "rcgroup.com"
Somebody called "sean.snider" did the converison and posted picture. Bellow is a extract of his post
here is the link to the forum :
http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showt...7&page=5&pp=15
"Submicro servos for rudder and elevator
10A speed control w/all motors in parellell (sp?)
no landing gear (adds weight and drag) - tape the bottom and belly in - hand toss to launch.
10-12+ minute flight w/7.4V LiPoly
Feel free to ask about additional details... It's actually a bit of a show-stopper at the field!
Regards, Sean
Attached pic shows servo locations. I experimented with battery position and ended up stuffing it in the nose. It is a 7.4 Volt LiPoly 1200MA battery... I tossed the original battery; it would have heavier then my preference - but likely would have flown...
Note the strapping tape on the underside of the wing... I flattened the wing as much as possible, then ran two strips of strapping tape from tip to tip; to make the wing stronger and to reduce some of the stock dihedral.
I also removed almost every bit of plastic inside the plane - along with the stock receiver and the motor board. The only plastic remaining inside is the supports for the wing mounting bolts. "

Hi everybody,
I just had a crash with my B-29. The plane is very smooth but with the 4 engine rotating clockwise (if you look from behind) there is a big P factor that make the airplane turn left when full throttle. So when you turn left, do not turn too much. Otherwise the plane is going in a left spiral dive that takes a lot of altitude to correct. I was flying at about 30ft when I tried to turn left to avoid some trees. The aiplane started to trun left and dive as I applied power. It took a lot of speed and I was not able to bring the nose up before it touch the ground! The result is a 2 pieces fusellage ( it break right before the wings) the left wing came out and the plastice engine support as a big crack between the 2 left engine. Also the stabiliser is craked at the point where it touch the fuselage. After that I decided to convert my plane in a 3 channel. I am going to fix the damage and add the radio gear. I will keep posting to show you some picture of my conversion.

Hi everybody,
So I crashed my B29 and decided to repair it and convert it to 3 channels.
Here is what I did :
2 micro servos
1 ESC ( a standard cheap one)
1 MINI GWS Rx
The airplane fuselage as definitely enough room to fit every thing. I did not remove anything from the inside, I let all plastic part in place. I use the stock battery, so no change in the battery compartment. The only change in the fuselage is an opening in front of the wings to put the 2 servos ( see pictures). I did that so the center of gravity is the same as before I started the conversion. A small tip to set the center of gravity : without the stock battery the airplane should be able to rest on its 3 landing gears, if you just push very slightly the tail down, it should tip to its tail. Or for the people that like numbers on my B29 the center of gravity is about 10mm behind the motor cover under the wing. The airplane is of course a little bit heavier but it's still able to fly. I made a 3 min test flight and every thing went well. Its a little bit slow to turn with the rudder but if you give a little elevator to help it's not to bad. Also the elevators surfaces are pretty big for the model and far aft, so be very very gentle with the pitch command. When the 4 motors are full throttle remember to give a little right rudder. Here are some pictures :
