I'm building a P-51 from scratch. What has y'all had good luck with for controlling the aileron and elevator? I have seen some use threaded music wire with guides every 12" or so. I've seen some that use the commercial flex push rods that have the outer sheath and inner push rod that is plastic. What do you prefer? My servos are in the wing and the tail is about 24" back. Thanks, Chris

I tend to avoid the plastic rod-in-tube arrangement for control surfaces. For what you are doing, I would recommend a solid wire pushrod inside a tube [link=http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXK059&P=ML]such as this one.[/link] As you mentioned, anchor or otherwise secure the outer tube a few times between the servo and the control horn. I wouldn't use all-thread for a run this long without putting a carbon fiber tube around it.
Hope this helps.....

I have had no problems with fexible wire pull pull systems. Any fishing shop will have the wire and even cheab BB servos seem to cope ok with the side load.
Either hang the wires out in the breeze or bury them in plastic tubes in the fuz.
Just pay attention to the geometry.

Go to Central Hobbies and look at their Carbon fiber push rod sets small lite and very strong, they won't bend like wire and do not weigh as much, I use them in all my planes. 10 fly and 5 hang.
