hope this is the right section. just bought my first plane used on-line. when it arrived ,the plane was covered in fuel. (dont think the tank was emptyed) and the decals are comeing off
, but I can live with that.(never flying before I expect alot more damage) but when I was cleaning up the mess I found the output tube of the remote needle valve is broken. (I think that is the name of it). and can't seem to find any that match. any suggustions on where to buy replacement parts would be great. have tryed tower hobbies but they don't carry that motor /part as far as I can tell. the plane is a hobbico nexstar select with a os. max .46 fxi engine. thank you for your time. can't wait to start flying.

This http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXFJY5&P=0 is the entire needle valve assembly for the 46 fxi, it also has everything but the needle itself. http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXMW57&P=V
It also says this one will work http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXMW56&P=V

If the plane has a lot of fuel in the wood it will need a lot of work before she is ready to fly. Sorry to hear you received something in rough shape.
If it is real bad you may disassemble everything (remove radio equipment and servos) and gently fill the fuse and any other fuel soaked wood with floor dry or kitty litter (unused)
and let it sit for a week or so. Another excellent choice to remove oil from the wood is http://www.amazon.com/K2R-SPOT-LIFTE.../dp/B0014E9FNO spray it on let it dry brush it away, and repeat. It will eventually get nearly all of the oil out. If you have a blow dryer around to heat the wood between spray treatments it will remove even more.
It is important that you get as much fuel and oil out of the wood as you can. Check any soaked glue joints for weakening, etc. Check the receiver and make sure it is not full of fuel also.

If the seller shipped an airplane with a tank full of fuel, not only was that illegal (unless he paid hazmat fees) but also destructive to the airplane. I'm guessing you didn't know about the broken needle valve either before paying? I would definitely be talking to this guy about a return or partial refund unless you got it dirt cheap and he disclosed that the plane was fuel soaked beforehand.

thanks for the info, don't know how I missed that on the web site. I ordered a few for back-ups. I striped the plane of electronics / tank / motor. so far every thing looks ok to me but , I am taking it to a local flying club for someone to look at it with a better trained eye. as for the seller he says it was a used plane that he only flew once but, used is used . he said as far as the fuel goes that he thought he had empted the tank before he pack it up for storage. but he can't remember. if it has to be rebuilt, I've got to start learning sometime . thanks again for the info / help on this site.

My Feedback: (1)
Its quite possible that what leaked out was just some residue since tanks are seldom completely pumped out unless special effort to do so is done.
What you should have done is let an experianced modeler have a look before you started "striping, motor, tank and electronics.
Its likely the tank bung was never properly tightened and the residue leaked out during shipping, which may have not been much at all.
Do not do anything further with your equipment or start buying Stuff untill you have connected with a mentor to help guide you along the way.
No one here can assess what if any damage was done without looking at it first hand. A first hand mentor/instructor will be vital to your ultimate success. This is especially so in avoiding the large waste of funds, That happens so often.
