Default Flap Servo Set Up

When setting up a Flap Servo, with the Flaps Retracted should the servo be at Center and no End Pont set to prevent any further Flap movement past retraction, and when extended, you set an end point reflecting the extent you want the flaps extended; or do you set them up differnt than what I have outlined?

Default RE: Flap Servo Set Up

With a 3 position flap I set them up so that the first click of down flap (Takeoff/approach) is center on the radio. Then use the end points to set up and full down.

Same principle with a slider, center the slider, center the servo (mechanically then tweak as needed with sub trim) and set the end points for full up and full down.

Default RE: Flap Servo Set Up

As an alternative I have often set up flaps using a three position switch with the middle position as the intrail position and flaps down with the switch down to a predetermined degree depending on what you are wanting the down flaps to accomplish and the up position to reflex the flaps up above in trail.

This to act as spoilers if you will. The glider folks call this full camber control.
