Hello; I was wondering if anyone out there have have seen a system that allows you to run two push rods from one servo for split elevators. I saw it in one of the RC airplane magazines but I can't remember where. I will try and describe it, It had three metal horns attached to a metal rod, and the servo hooks to the center horn and the two push rods hooks to the two outside horns allowing you to run two push rods from one servo. If anyone knows about this system or knows where I could get one I would sure appreciate it. Thanks George.

You have answered your own question . If you think of a "y" harness ,so the one plug end is the rx connection & the other two ends go to the servos . So instead of that you will have a [ depends on size of plane] 5 /16" dowel , length to suit - one end will have a threaded end for a 2/56 or 4/40 clevis , it will be wrapped with cotton & secured the normal way to the dowel . this goes to servo . from other end of dowel is a forked two wires for the 2/56 or 4/40 clevis '. you will have two slots cut in side of back of fuse to allow them out to align with horns on elevator . You will have to juggle the 2 wires out thru the slots , make sure they are free , & not binding .

Thanks Hurri; But the system I saw allows you to run two seperate push rods from one servo rather than joining two push rods into one. It has three arms on it, The center one is for the servo and the two outside ones are for the push rods. George.

If the servo is mounted with the arm motion happening in the same plane as the "dumbbell" (see the picture on Sullivan's site) then the dumbell will rotate slightly and the you will end up with differential movement between the push rods.

If you setup things up so that the servo arm and dumbbell are perpendicular then this is not a problem. If it can't be done this way, I wouldn't recommend it (having tried myself).

That may not be clear.... how about this: you don't want the little dumbell moving side to side as the servo arm moves because it (the dumbell) will rotate slightly.

Thanks Jim; I went to the site and that is the bell crank I saw but I didn't realize that the out side arms are outside at the rear of the fuselage. I thought that the whole system was inside the fuselage and just the push rod ends came out the sides of the fuselage side. I think maybe I will go with soldering two push rods together. You can make your own.
Stiff rod form servo to one control horn.
Second rod will go to the second control horn to the rod.
Either attach the two rods with collars or solder.

For my Kaos with split elevators, I used the Dave Brown fibreglass pushrods. These come with several different plastic tips that allow you to attach metal rods to each end of the pushrod. Included in the set is a tip with two holes so that you can make a Y fitting and have one rod on the servo end and two rods on the elevator end. Cut slots on both sides of the fuselage and bend the rods to exit the fuselage through the slots. I flew this plane for several years and never had any problems with this set up.

i think hobby-lobby has those, but i think its only in their catalog. i might be dreaming though. im definitely sure i saw one of those either in tower hobbies or HL, most likely HL

Hello Stew99; Thanks for the info. I just went to the web site of the hobby shop I deal with up here in Canada and they do have the Dave Brown push rods you are talking about. It comes with two fiberglass push rods and five fittings and the one fitting is the one that is drilled for two wires for split elevators. Thanks again guys for all your help!
