Default *CA Applicator Tips*

I decided one day to buy some of the [link=http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXL490&P=ML]Hobbico CA Applicator Tips[/link] to try out on installing my CA hinges. After attaching one to my bottle of CA I was able to glue my Stab on without any CA running out and onto the stab. This was great and I thought I had it made but that was the only one that worked, all the others spit when I tried to attach it to the bottle of CA. Anyone have a better way of applying CA for getting in those tight spots for hinging?

Read a tip somewhere about using a thin piece of wire to direct the flow of thin CA. Put the end of the wire where you want the glue applied and drip CA on the wire and let it run down the to the desired spot.

I do this with toothpicks or pins for CA hinges with good results.

I buy those tips by the box when I find them. Yes they do split sometimes if the glue bottle tip was cut off too low and it's too wide. Don't ask how I know that. The other thing I have found is they are not all the same thickness or size even when you buy the whole box. I have A small bottle of acetone I soak them in when they goop up or I can just nip 1/4 inch off the front of the tip. There are many different types out there so buy some and see what you like best.

I find these far more practical and controllable than any bottle type tip:

I have never had any trouble from the Hobbico tips. I love them. I buy 9 bags at a time.

I have had trouble with the Hobbico tips splitting-solution is to heat the end that goes over the bottle with your heat gun until the plastic is soft, careful not to melt the sucker, then quickly insert over the ca tip on bottle, works like a champ. When the plastic cools it seems to shrink over the tip and seals well. Same goes for the ones that come with thick ca.

1st, do not cut the tip on the bottle too short. I have found that if you take about 1/4" off the end, that is plenty.

2. I also take some masking tape and split it in half, then wrap the tip to the bottle to seal the connection/joint. It prevents the tip coming off at the wrong time and helps protect your hands (and everything else ) if the seal between the accessory tip and the bottle tip decides to leak.

I'm using the PACER ZAP CA (thin) and there is no cutting of the tip required. You just twist the cap off and put a hole in the end of the tip. Maybe this brand has a little bigger tip than some others.
