Default GX-21 Engine

Very nice forum!

I got my self a Kyosho Inferno 7.5 RTR with a GX-21 engine.
It worked fine until i screwed up the settings on the engine,
Does someone here know the factory settings for the needle and the other screws on it,
or know an online manual?

best thing happen to me when this engine blew up

get yourself a temp guage. and tune from there.

Thanks for your reply!

Im not so good with english terms in R/C, just so you know

My problems is that it stalls when i starts it.
The reason i got this problem was that i tried to configure it so the engine woldnt stop when i uses the brakes.

I found a picture on the web on the engine:
[link=http://www.rcpics.net/img/36931]Picture[/link]

Can you describe the turns needed for the factory settings or recommended settings with the numbers applied to the picture?
I would be very grateful!

i look at the manual and it wont tell you too much.

ok the LSN you shouldnt touch much only fine adjustments

the idle screw ~ looks like this + and has a spring on it, turn clockwise about 1/8th of a turn to stop it from stalling if you put on breaks.

if you car can stall either one of 3 reason....

1. if the HSN or LSN is too rich ~ you can tell if it is too rich if your engine "bogs" ... it will be hard to rev the engine... and lots of smoke

2. If the HSN or LSN is too lean ~ your engine will rev then die when you apply full throttle. and little or no smoke.

3. the idle screw is set too low - you dont touch this screw much. once you set it it should be fine. small adjustment needed about 1/8th of a turn either way.

The HSN you should start at about 3 to 5 turns out, when new. So turn the HSN all the way in. Then turn the needle out (anticlockwise) 4 x 360degs. When the engine becomes run in more then you can lean it out 1/8th turn at a time.

Next test your LSN. Pinch the fuel line and see if the engine can stay on for 5 seconds. If it dies less than 5seconds then richen it (richen = anticlockwise). If it take more than 5 seconds than lean it out. (lean = clockwise)

good lcuk

I've been out today and tested your tips, and now it works like a charm! i can break without it stalls!

I tried the "pinch the fuelline" and it stayed on for 4-5 seconds.

Thank you very much for your help!

BTW, i forgot to mention that i found the manual, and as you said it didnt say very much.

hey kev,

generally the bigger the engine the more nitro it can take. i run 30% on my .21 ofna picco comp. most people around here don't recommend it though

most people run 25% so that wat you should start with and a MC8 Plug.

If you want a better engine for $220 you can get the same engine that i got. the Picco 21 comp from www.rbmods.net.. i have about 1.5 gallons thru it and it gets better with every tank. and can compete with much more expensive engines.

i'm still new at this game 6 months into it, but i learnt alot from the forum and just alot of trial and error... sort of good thing i hada cheap engine for my first engine to practice on. i see newbies everyday at the track run p5's and 421b's take off carbys, air filters.. and getting dirt in their engines

p.s MagellanJR when it comes time to upgrading your engine, contact me coz i got the engine mounts, engine spacers, flywheel, clutches, manifold that you will need when you upgrade your engine. that i dont use anymore for your mp7.5 sports.

If the engine stops when you use the brakes, that probably means your clutch shoes or clutch springs are worn out.

You'll need new ones. Once you replace them, you'll find that you can return the engine needle settings to their original positions prior to the problem.

Buggies normally wear out clutches, these are part of the consumables like fuel.

on the gx21 - he has a 2 peice clutch, the clutch shoe is aluminium or some sort of metal shoe

, i found the clutch bell housing wears out well b4 the clutch shoe does.

and with a single spring, if that snaps it would be obvios.
