i hope im not starting a flame thread with a topic like this as it would in the MT forum but here it is.
i am considering getting a prp swift buggy. i read a review and it said that it came with an airtronics mx3 fm radio and costs only 430 dollars. from what ive seen alot of the 1/8 buggies are very pricy.
i dont care that it lacks aftermarket support because i prefer to make my hopups.
any recommendations or warnings regarding this buggy?
by the way im considering this as a second vehical
thanks

The PRP swift is not only off brand but also a brand that never caught on- and for good reason. You'll be spending more time fixing it than running it.
If you really want a nice off brand bugg- get yourself a Crono RS01 Buggy. Make some parts for that. That's an awesome buggy. But could use some durability.

I have a swift, and I can honestly say that it has not lived up to the hype, or has been as bad as everyone said it would be. My car starts great and runs great and is peppered with parts from other cars or has had many of the parts modified to work better. The real issue is that the company can't deliver replacement parts quickley enough and it is for that reason that I would probably not go that route again with a 1/8th buggy.
But don't think you're going to get something that doesn't have problems. Just take a look at the forums, the new Mayhem has problems, the XB8 has problems.
When I buy my next 1/8th, I'll look for something that I can get parts for at my LHS, but I'll probably end up spending more than what a swift costs.
If you're going to make you're own parts, buy a used Mugen on eBay.

Every buggy has its own problems. You cant avoid that. Should there be a buggy that is completely perfect, I will definitely spend the extra shillings to get the buggy.
The PRP Swift is definitely a thumbs down in my oppinion as well. One person I know of that I bashed around with at my track despised the buggy. Parts were the biggest issue. It took him forever to get his parts. So he literally trashed it and bought an Ofna Hyper 7.
The Mayhem RTR costs 520 - 530 US dollars, and sometimes less on Ebay, should you be lucky enough to find the deal. The Mayhem Pro is your best avenue to go by and costs approximately 400 US dollars. But that is excluding radio and other starting equipment needed. It may cost more in the beginning, but in the long run, you will save more. You should keep that in mind when you purchase R/C vehicles. Don't think what is good now, think what is good from now till "I feel like I need something better." You will pat yourself on the back when you do decide to get that next buggy!
In all honesty, I would suggest doing more research than reading magazines. RC Driver is a good source to read about R/Cs as are forums.
