Default Locking the center diff..

Hello... I have a hyper pbs 8port and I noticed that my front tires are spinning alot more than the back...and i was thinking if my savage diff locker would fit i may put that in there..Im not racing just bashing so if i did lock the center diff how would it perform compared to just leaving it alone? Would i gain or lose anything? They way i kind of see it is it would help out because the power would be distributed alot more equally. Since the front tires are spinning most of the power is transfered to the front and hardly none to the back.. When you take off the weight is to the rear so if you could have more power to the rear it would hook up alot better...does this seem right? Maybe having a working diff helps alot during racing but im just toying around with it..what do you all think..Thanks!!

No, it wont fit, coz the PBS has an 8 gear center diff as opposed ro the savages 2/4 gear diffs. You could get hould of a stock diff from an RTR Hyper but it's way cheaper to just get some Diff oil like 20K to lock it up with.

Ok so if the pbs diff cup wont work then your sure this is the one I need to be able to put the savage locker in?

[link=http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXCVR4&P=M]hyper diff cup[/link]

Well now i have a better understanding of all this... it looks like the spur gear will not bolt up to this cup (link above). So if i use this [link=http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXFTY0&P=7]Diff oil[/link] it will pretty much lock the center diff??? I could just fill the diff with jb weld but i dont want to do that just incase i dont like the center diff being locked and would want to change it back.

Back to using the locker... i think i found the right diff cup but i cant find a spur...i dont even know how many tooth spur is stock on the pbs...could someone lead me in the right direction? Thanks..

If you really dont care to run a center diff just jb weld it, its permanent but it works. or get some 100,000 diff oil from you lhs. that almost completely locks it.

i wish i could remember what site i saw it on. but there's a compnay that makes a diff locking lube. they say it locks it up tight. you just use it instead of your regular diff oil.

will post site if i can find it again. think i surf too much.......[]

I agree, I wouldn't use it...but it is designed for what you want to do.

I would suggest any silicone over 100k (although I have never tried to do this myself), it should have the effect you are looking for I am sure...it will still be difficult to clean out though, if you change your mind...

Thinking about it, has anyone out there got any recommendations for how to get really gooey silicone out of your diffs? Degreasing agent doesn't seem to work very well, it's just too thick...
