Looking at getting a buggy for bashing...... Hyper 7 TQ?
Okay, I have had my monster gt for about 8 months and while I enjoy it, I am looking to move into a buggy. I will mostly be running it with some friends at their track (backyard) as well as running it around my yard and possibly a little street running. Since I am familiar with nitro, I am looking to build a kit. I don't feel that spending 500-600 on a kit is wise for what I will be doing, so I am looking at the Hyper 7 TQ kit. I think it would be a good starting point and I can build it up if I ever feel the need. I will be putting an Airtronics MX-3 radio and 200oz servo in it, so I just need an engine. I am interested in the Sportwerks .26 because it seems to be very user friendly when it comes to tuning and maintaining, and since I won't be racing at a track I won't be limited to a high end .21. I would like to know if this would be a wise choice for a buggy and would this be a good engine for it? I only ask about the engine because I think I read somewhere that it won't fit in the Hyper 7 TQ. If this is true, what other engines would be a good alternative? I would like to keep the cost below 200.00. Again, I don't feel that I should be putting a 300.00-400.00 engine in a 250.00 buggy that will not be raced seriously. Thanks.

I did also purchase this hyper7 tq sport and even installed a mach .26 engine in it and it runs great. Have a hitech ultra torqh servo for st and std th servo, and an M8. About the engine, the mach .26 and the sportwerks .26 are the same, I have the none pull start type, the pull start and the backplate are huge, it wont fit unless you do some mods, or cutting in your engine mountplate, and the chassis, me I don't want so I decide to get the non pull start, anyway I have a starter box that I could use from my On road.
Hyper7......$239
Mach .26....$120
st servo.....$39
th servo.....$10

Thanks Ybenjulkay2x. Do you know where I can find an engine with a pullstart that will fit in the buggy? I don't have a starter box and I don't mind a pullstart. If there are none that fit, will a shaft start fit? I know I have seen a few sportwerk .26's from the mayhem on ebay. Would this be something that would fit, or would there have to be modifications? Thanks again.

Someone else on another forum recommended different engine mounts or risers. Does anyone know which one would be a good fit? Thanks

Yeah, thru my observation, only ofna engine with pull start will fit w/o doing any mods or cutting, ex. Ofna hyper .21. Also the hyper engine do have a none pull start.

Will the O.S. RG (P) keep up with other engines mentioned? Hyper 21, Mach 26, etc.? I will be running with some friends and I don't want to be lagging behind. Lol.I will be runnning with a revo, mammoth st, tnx, ofna lx, and a couple of gs storms with v-specs.

The R.G is a great motor and will run and hide from the Hyper .21 now the V-SPECS you might have some trouble on the top end but if you want to spend the money you can maybe find a P5 for cheap on fleabay Or get a W7 and you will leave everybody behind

Okay, thanks kidswift. I might go ahead and pick up a O.S. RG. I really wanted the sportwerks .26, but if I'm going to have to mod the chassis, I don't want it.

Look on ebay, you can find a new Force 26 with pipe and clutch for 99 bucks!!! You just can't beat a deal like that. 2.41hp with GREAT torque!

I got the Force 26 in my 9.5 MBX and it rocks!! Although you could pickup a new Picco 27 for around 160+shipping on ebay. It's a PURE powerhouse, mate it to a JP-2 and you could just have the wickedest motor ever!

But would it fit with a pullstart? I wanted the sportwerks, but everyone says I would have to use different mounts.

Oh yes. It will keep up, and leave them in the dust (except the V-spec I think). When it's worn out you can sell the carb to the guy with the Hyper, he will need one.

I agree. I don't know why everyone bashes the force .26.
I love the torque, and the area tracks let me run it.
Club racing rules are different than roar rules.

After reading about the O.S., I think I'm leaning in that direction. Does anyone know if the pullstart version will fit? I really want a pullstart because I will be bashing mostly and I don't want to carry around a starter box.

RE: Looking at getting a buggy for bashing...... Hyper 7 TQ?
I have a SH .28 in my hyper 7 pbs. Very little modding to get it to work, all I had to do was trim a little off of the back of the stock engine mount. Paid 130.00 including pullstart / shipping off Ebay. This thing ripps, my new road rages aint so new any more, my only problem is traction, I mean you hit the throttle and all four tires double in size it pretty cool to watch but if I was to drag race someone I'd lose. Guess I need to learn some finger control. Any way I thought would just throw this engine in the mix, dare I say to much power[>:].

Hmm. Do you think the SH .28 and the Sportwerks .26 are the same size? I don't mind altering the mount a little, but I didn't want to make any drastic changes.

BillyPratt you can use the Picco .27 or .26 bigblock pullstart engines, they should fit in the H7 buggies without modifications.

Thanks Engrose. I was looking for a straight answer, however, for some reason some say a .26 won't fit and some say they will.
Pics would be great MongoDS.

The pullstart assembly on the Picco engines is rather small compared to the OS RG p/s. But in order to be sure that the engines fit, you can call Nitrohouse and ask them. They are specialists in Ofna and should know. The Picco engines are sold as Ofna Picco in US.
