I am really tempted by the 808 and the Z01B (assuming it ever reaches the market!)

Hey Guys,

I hear alot of talk about boiling parts, does that actually make them stronger? What parts do you boil, for how long? I live in South Florida, the average temp here is 80. Any suggestions and information on this boiling mod would be helpful to me. Thanks!

i boil arms, hub carriers, wing stay. bring water to a boil, throw in the parts, let boil for 5-8 min. turn off the heat and let cool. hope this helps.

I am in no way an expert on this, but I believe boiling doesn't actually make them "stronger". Instead, it makes the plastic more pliable. Brittle plastic tends to break on hard impacts. I can't be positive my break wasn't due to a manufacturing defect, but the boiled arms seemed slightly more pliable than before I boiled them.

So how long do you suggest to boil the parts for? Do you let them cool down in the water or you take them out? Anyone else with experience on this, please feel free to chime in. I would hate to ruin a nice new set of $ 30 arms because I don't know how to cook. I am so stupid when it comes to this stuff, I would probably add salt to the water so the parts don't stick to the bottom of the pot like you to with pasta. You see, I need a lot of help with this.

Don't worry, Howard. You are not alone. I've wasted a lot of money over the last few months learning this hobby.

I read somewhere else to boil the parts for 10 minutes. Mine were in about 10 and I left the water cool down for a couple more minutes before slowly adding room-temperature water to the pot. I'm a noob driver, so I tend to land really hard on the jumps. It's too early to tell for sure, but it looks like the boiling made a difference.

Hi guys,
I just got a "Turmoil" and i'm having trouble geting it to go. I've got it idoling fine by run 3 tanks of 30% through it. If I even barely touch the throttle after letting it idol for more than 30 seconds, it'll die instantly! If I start driving it around just after it starts, after about 10-20 seconds, it'll try to stall HARD and I have to take it up to full throttle to save it. It'll do this every 10-15 seconds and after about 3 of these, it dies. HELP!!!!!

Well i finally got my car to the track yesterday. I had a great time. No issues what so ever. Only thing i did to it was clean the body between heats. My first race out and i qualified for A main and finished 3rd. I am completely happy with the durability of this buggy. I had some nasty crashes in practice that i thought for sure would break something but came away unscathed. Defenitely not regretting the purchase of this and can not wait to get back out and keep learning. I have one question though, what temps is everyone running with the .21 V2 Sportwerks engine. I run O'donnel 30% race blend it seems to run the strongest around 230-240. Is that ok for that motor??

I've been pretty freaked about the turmoil being discontinued because I just switched from a meyhem to a turmoil pro. I ran 5 tanks thru the pro today and I feel better about the whole thing. It ran great and even withstood the abuse of an eight year old driver. I guess I'm going to hang on to it till it does get thrashed then worry about the next buggie.

They are great buggies for their price. I think it was stupid for Horizon Hobby to discontinue the car, however I heard a rumor that they are coming out with a "new" model. Usually, a newer model will use the same parts as it's predecessor. Look what happend with the Mayham, now it's a Turmoil, and so on. I feel pretty confident that the Turmoil can and will live on! We should have parts for a while.

THe bad thing about sportwerks is there usually isnt any after market parts for their products. I bought the recoil and thought it was just the car that didnt catch on but from looking around now that I got my turmoil I see its all their products. They make really good rc's but the marketing and support are horrible.
