I broke in my new hyper .21 according to these instructions: [link=http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_3443146/anchors_3443146/mpage_1/key_hyper/anchor/tm.htm#3443146]the one by foxy42[/link].
Well I got all through the break-in and was going to begin to tune it but the weather turned foul on me so I didn't get a chance for a couple of weeks. So today I try and go tune it. It fired right up on the 3rd or 4th pull, but then died. Same thing over and over. It wouldn't run for more than 3 secs. It sounded like the engine was getting bogged down or flooded right before it died. So I tried turning in the needle valve 1/4 turn thinking it was getting too much fuel. Same thing. I finally got it to run steady, but only if the carb was 1/2 open. If I let it go to idle it would just die. If I went to WOT it would just die. Basically it will only run at 1/2 throttle. Any more and any less and it dies. At the end of me breaking it in a few weeks ago, it would idle steadily and ran awesome. Now, I'barely runs at all. I'm completely stumped.
I'm using Blue Thunder 20% and a McCoy #7 plug. Fuel is brand new as is plug.

Well I'm not totally sure from your description but it may be that your low speed needle might be too far out (rich) turn it 1/12th of a turn clockwise start it and leave the glowstarter on, lift it off the ground and gently blip the throttle. If you can keep it running, run it up the street/track whatever. if it runs but is still boggy turn it an extra 1/12th. don't turn it too much just a little at a time till it idles then pulls off on throttle. If it aint this then I don't know sorry

I'm assuming you put fresh fuel in it. I'm no nitro guy just getting into it, but this sounds familiar to how my 87 ramcharger is that I'm fixing up. Its got 4yr old fuel in the tank and the choke doesnt work, so until i get it warm from 10 minutes of running the 360 will just die at idle. I'm assuming the airfilter is off? If not something coulda got clogged in that, this will flood an carbed motor.

If, after breaking in the engine, you left fuel in the line and carb, it's probably gummed up. The nitro evaporates and leaves everything else behind. Odds are that your carb needs a good cleaning. I had this problem with a used hyper that I got. I just got rid of the carb and used a carb from an OS RG. It fired right up and runs really well.

Hyper 8 port? The worst carb ever! The middle needle might need a new o-ring or be adjusted. Make it fluch and then align one of the holes to the fuel inlet.

Oh, BTW, I just got a hyper .21 8 port that was on a POS XTM that I just bought. Not that I don't like XTM, the one I bought wasn't anything like it was described. The hyper gave me nothing but headaches. What I did was put a carb from an OS RG on it. It now purrs like a kitten and in a drag race against my other buggy with a SW .26, they are neck and neck. It turns out that the hyper isn't bad after all, it just needs a better carb. Well, mine did anyway.

Umm, bog is lean, and sputtering is rich Jonnymac. Everyone thinks when their car doesn't run great that it's "bogging" whether it's lean or rich.
