I have reacently recived my Hyper 8 and I put 50 shock oil in the shocks since the oil that comes with the car is crap. I was wonderiong what shock oil weight you guys are using, I use the 50 but the suspention seems a little stiff. thanks alot.
Ps : the external fuel filter that comes with the car was empty on the inside no gold melal/foam filter peace inside is this unussual??

On the hyper 8 thread, like page 1or2 its one of the pro set up sheets, I forget what weight it was, but check it out. Im running 50 front 40 rear but it all depends on the track too. As for the filter, it should have a screen of some kind in it, check the bag of goodies, might have over looked it. I know mine had it already in it, it came 80% prebuilt.

Looking at what most are saying and what set up sheets I can find buggies run heaver oil then I do in my race Savage that I run 25 weight in it. But of coarse my Savage has 2 shocks per corner. Thanks all for the input and advise.

Of coarse we all know there are many variables in what shock oil to run. I just spent many hours looking at forums on the Hyper 8 and most are running from 25 to 35. I think to start out with I am going to try 35 front and 30 rear.

With the stock shocks, and stock un-drilled pistons you'll want to start with 30-35wt up front, and 25-30wt in the rear. The stock piston holes are only 1.2 mm and oils any thicker than what I listed will feel too thick...Most are drilling the pistons to 1.4-1.6mm and using thicker oils for more consistency...Hope this helps...

Thanks and that makes a lot of sense! Trying to find out all I can before I get mine so when I go to building and setting up I will be in the ballpark on my first trip around the track.
Thanks!
