As I wrote earlier - the Spektrum radio kit from rcmart comes with two servos: 270 and 590.
You can use the 590 for throttle. The 270 is too bad to use.
For steering you should get a Sanwa erg-vx or Sanwa erg-vz. Normally you can find them at rcmart, but not at the moment.

When looking for a steering servo you look for both speed and torque.

My idea -

Im asking my mum and dad to buy me this at christmas. But....
Im going to work for my dad a bit ( He gives me about £10 - 100 ) every time i work for him. So im going to try and earn £240 so thats half and half sorta for me and my mum and dad.

If i cant get 240 but i get more than £120 then ill buy the transmitter/reciver you reccomended and then save up for the go engine

But if i can get all of it at the same time then that would be better so i can save up to other things.

Thanks for the help Captain much appreciated

P.s ( If im viewing this thread then im likely to reply within 1 - 10 mins if im not viewing then im more likely not to reply within that time)

Thanks
Ryan

Then you should use the time from now until you are actually going to buy something to learn. Do some research and go to the tracks.

Then when you are ready to purchase you should ask for help (if you need it) to determine what to buy.

It is most likely that the kit or parts you consider now is not available or upgraded when we reach christmas time.

Furthermore there could be some new and more interesting stuff on the market then - or some good prices on other things.

Btw. if you think that nitro models are easier to deal with than electric models, then you are wasting your money.

If you are not willing to learn then this is not the hobby for you.

I agree with Captain Firearms, bloodlezz, you have time, so search around, and LEARN. Read the forums, most of the questions you are asking have been asked before. There is unlimited amounts of information on here.

That buggy has all the goodies you need to win! Gotta love captured hinge pins! I have a Team VTX B1 and it will run with the best out there. Don't listen to the people trying to get you to go high-dollar! It just doesn't make sense! I race real cars as well and see stupid people waist a ton of money thinking it will make them go faster or be more competetive!!!!!!! I go spend 25% of what they do and kick there butts badly! They constantly hang around trying to figure out how I can make such a piece of crap beat they're really expensive cars!

Your car only needs to KEEP RUNNING to win at MOST tracks!

The only one that is trying to get Ryan to spend a lot of money is Ryan!

It is not necessary to use a lot of money to be competetive, but there is some places where it is more expensive in the long run if you buy inferior quality.

Another thing is that for a total beginner it is wiser to get an engine that is easy to tune and do not have to much power because it is easier to learn how to drive that way.

I was at my mate's house today. He has a 1/8th scale buggy with a GO 21 engine 5 port. He invited me round to come and see it and tune it with him. Before i went round i had read up on alot of stuff about tuning and stuff. So he sat and watched me tune it and do some stuff to it. We took it for a run. It ran alot better than before he said. And it did sound like it too. Also he let me play with his rc car for 4 hours. So i got to grips with how to steer it and stuff. Dont worry. I just want to buy the good stuff first. So i can save my budget for other things to up the anty a bit more

Good for you. Try to go to the track a few times before you buy and see what people there prefer and drive. It is an advantage if there are others with the same car as you get. That way you can get (or give) help with setup and parts.
