Also I am not knocking GRP engines by saying they are identical to the Ninja engines.... I love these engines and have modified many of them with exceptional results... These are high quality motors with amazing fit and finish.... I find the powerbands to be very smooth and linear and mileage to be excellent.....I would recomend them to anyone !
086 is the tuned pipe you recommend for the GRP .21. What role does the pipe play for the GRP .21? Is it just the sound you are emphasizing on? Does it play any role in terms of top-mid- low end of the engine?

053 or 086...both will make more power then the EFRA pipes.......
Are the ofna pipes compatible with the OS Vspec or Speed?
Hey Supertib..Still waiting for the above reply. Thanks

053 works decently..the 086 not so much...MSR 1005 works killer and so does a JP3.... and of course you know the 2060 is also well thought of on this motor.

Nothing mild about this engine. So far it has kept up with or passed any other engine on the track. So far it has been a screamer with great power.

The dynamite 086 and OFNA 086 (or Novarossi or any other 086) are all the same design. Same with the 053'3 063's etc.
The quality of construction and materials may differ though

the Dynamite pipe and OFNA pipe are nothing alike..the OFNA pipe is louder ( much much louder) and to me makes more HP....
The Dynamite 086 is hard coated and has a different header, but the design is the same. OFNA headers can be notorious for not being aligned and restrictive. The dimensions of the pipe however are the same. which is what i said in my post.
just becaue they are noisier and give different power output doesn't mean they are not the same design.
hardcoating can provide more noise and different power profiles as the resonance is different. Do a search on OFNA headers and you will see some of the power issues with them and the fixes

Choose the OFNA pipe over the dynamite...its louder and makes more power...most likely they have the internal baffles drilled differently as the OFNA pipe is much much louder

If I need to run 30% fuel on the GRP; do I need to add or remove shims?

They come stock with (1) .3mm aluminum and (1) .1mm copper already installed. I installed one more .1mm copper shim for a total of .5mm to run 30%. I believe Drake had said on another forum that he runs them stock, which would be .4mm with 30%.

Does this engine have a 2-speed needle or 3?

I got the promo kit and it came with no manual. That's disappointing. Does anyone know if I can download it somewhere?

you should see what a strong 21 looks like !!!! Many motors I consider strong cannnot be used in a Buggy, as they just have way too much power.....

As I say guys, a GRP Is a smooth easy to drive .21..it is not by any means the fastest or most powerful race .21... but it is one of my favorite engines

I don't think either the promo kit or the engine come with a manual. I have the promo as well and no manual. You can download it here [link=http://www.grpgandini.com/pdf/manuale2008-05-07.pdf]GRP User manual[/link] You will not find the factory needle settings or any kind of shim requirements in this manual. I'm not sure why they did not include this information. Many people are stating different factory needle settings which leads me to believe that they don't necessarily have a "Default Needle Setting". my .28 came stock at 4 turns out on the HSN and 4.5 turns out on the LSN. Hope this helps.

Example I would say is a Picco .21 Evo2. As you once told me earlier it was always recommended in a truggy.

Yes a PIcco P7R or Jammin JPX will both out power and outrev the GRP engine......

I would say it should work fine, I used some merlin plugs and they werent bad, No reason to spend 12-15 dollars on a plug made by grp, They are a great quality, but it will burn up just as fast as the rest of them, depends on what climate you are in as well, different plugs for different temps.

If the OS P3 plugs are used all the time from the start in the GRP, will it still damage the head?
