would that be decent for club races? I have an STS .28 or the Mach 427 for it, i just wanna try these Go motors that everyone raves about

ive heard that the 3 port aint much to rave about.... but... you get your hands on a 7 port with the 2047 pipe on it and you'll see why people rave about them

The 3-port sport Go tech is what is not that great. I know some guys that run the 3-port Race .21 and it rips. That is what I am going to put in my buggy when my next order comes in. well, i have a STS .28, Mach 427 and an Omega Picco. XT .21 that can all go in my 8ight right now, what engine can top those for around $200?

Go tech 6 port .25 engine for your truggy. Has almost the same poewr as a .28 and better fuel economy. Or if your lookining for fuel economy and good power try the Go Tech 5 port .21. Good luck

I race with a Go 3 sport in my 8ight. So far I have 8 gallons on it as of today. As far as people saying it isn't a good motor im not sure what thats about. Im currently in 1st place in points in my local series and I just got 2nd place in a trophy race last weekend. I run against, Novas, Rb C6's, sportwerks, Dynamites, vspecs... Even at bigger tracks I don't lose any ground on longer straights.

The only downside it has is that it wouldn't last as long as a 'race' engine. Im surprised Ive made it to 8 gallons. But as far as power goes its not lacking. So I say again, nobody I race with can catch me on the back straight. If I end up drag racing neck and neck I might get pulled by a high-doller motor... but barely. That being said, your not going to win a race because you can barely edge out the next guy at the end of the straight.

So go ahead and get, you won't be disappointed.

Oh and something I know for a fact, the Go 3 sport will walk all over the mach 427. I race with a guy that has the RTR 8ight and I hit him on the back straight sometimes.

With my Go 3 port sport, I couldn't get it to respond until over 280 degrees. By then, I couldn't restart it because of vapor lock. Horrible engine. Worst $125 I have ever spent.

i know that some engines are hit and miss...i have the STS .28 that i haven't got to run, but i broke it in and i can tell that it has some power, but i've heard horror stories about them from a few people

I have read reviews for the go tech engines and the 3 port is split 50 50 but the 5 and 7 ports are great i hope so getting ready to buy a 5 port.

well, at least i'll know to avoid the 3 port...i "might" just save up for a nice GRP engine

Its a horrible engine because it has an aluminum carb? Any engine will vapor lock without a composite carb. but yea, 280 sounds about right. Thats where mine runs all day.

why? Do you actually tune by temp? lol, then don't get a Go period, they like hot. 230 and a Go tech is running way fat.

no, i tune by performance, not heat....but i get a little nervous when the motors get that hot, but if it's running too rich when the temp is low, i'll lean it until it runs right...so sometimes i'll go up to 280

High heat would made me nervous to. Then people I race with just kept telling me to lean it out and not worry about the temp because at 230 it would just sputter. I've hit 290ish in a 30 min main before because my back plate was leaking. Hasn't hurt the engine at all.

I understand that some engines just like to run hot. But when the engine runs so hot that you can't even restart it due to vapor lock, there's a problem.

i know i've had motors that wanted to run like crap until it reached around 290*f, but they were smaller motors that were in my stadium trucks. My Mach 427 will run at a consistent 250*f and it will scream, but my Picco .21 seems like it's too rich on the HSN and LSN but it's running at around 240* right now

Once an engine gets past 230 its going to vapor lock. Either you get a composite carb or carry a can of compressed air. I ran a vspec carb for a while and would fire right up at 280 degrees. But then again, you shouldn't be in a situation that you need to start your engine when its that hot. ie, dont run out of gas in a long main

i think i'm gonna end up going with a Picco .28 p3, i can't pass it up since i'm getting a good deal on it. I figured that since i only race the club races and there isn't a an engine size restriction, i might as well just go with the .28

I'm running a Go .21 R-spec in a buggy, I tried it in my truggy.. it wasn't so great. Its a much better buggy engine.

It has more then enough power, and it runs 210 to 240.

Seen a guy last night at the track running a go 5-port, he was lean bogging at 310, but was screaming at 280. He had a v-spec carb on it too.

THumbs up for the go .21 7 port, it great. Do not tune by temp, there like to run between 250~270f. If you got plenty of smoke then its fine, indicates the engine is getting lube.
