Hey,
I am in the process of building up my 8ight. And was woundering what the required Torque and Speed is usually required for a Steering servo. Is there any common servo's people are using?
Thanks
Shawn

Minimum torque 175oz and 200oz is better speed of .13 or better. If you are running a radio with EPA go digital.

I think that is a bit high for minimum torque . I`ve been running 125 oz servo the past few years in my 8ight and does quite well . But to each is own.

Have you tried a higher torque servo? I have tried servos with around 125oz in my Hyper 8 and when I built my Hyper8.5 put the 200oz servo and it made a BIG difference!!!!!!!! Yes I think anything over 200oz is over kill and all so puts a bigger strain on your receiver pack. I guess if all a person does is bash does not matter but for racing makes a BIG difference.

I race all time with the 8711 in without any problems. Which I always put in a fresh batt before every race

Yes I have , just overkill in my opinion for a buggy . Indoor season I race at a very small track and my servo does just fine .

I know several guys a couple of which are very competitive racers that use the 9100s on steering . one of those guys who takes very good care of his equipment has changed his steering 9100s(due to glitching/twitching) at least once this summer . the other 2 have had good success with the 9100s on both throttle and steering . myself Im not going to take a chance anyway anyhow and just put a 9100"t" on both throttle and steering . friday , just before racing saturday I put the 9100s on my throttles and did like the extra response on throttle&brake . 2 things I like with jr and also racing an 8ight along with using other losi and horizon products is that when there is a reason for whatever issue I have they(horizon)knows when I call them for product info or whatever that I am using only their(horizon) products and I seem to get better treatment when dealing with them , and the fact that these servos have a 3yr warrenty . And when you have a problem with a z9100 jr servo send it to them and 90% of the time when they recieve it they will immedietely drop a brand new one in the mail for you .

the 9100 S is more than enough torque. I think speed is more important that torque anyways.

+2. I have the DS1015 (Team Associated label. If you're gonna go with either the DS1015 or the DS1313, go with the Associated branded ones, because the warranty is better dealing with AE as opposed to TTR from what I understand.) servos on both Steering and Throttle/Brake in my RC8. They both work perfectly.

The truth is that none of the claimed torque values are real. If you go to yhe Troy Built Models website you will see realworld testing. The guys flying 40-50% size airplanes have to extra sure these things are right. The Hitec 5955-7955 are not as strong as the JR 8711 but the Hitec Ti gear train holds up much better in the long run and if you want you can even run them unregulated on lipo's( with a JR or spectrum reciever )and get massive amounts of torque and speed. Troy Built also sells the Hitecs at the right price.

so where does it say the Hitec isnt as powerful as they claim ?...i cant find anything on that site in regards to claimed spec's being wrong.
