RE: :: Official MBX5/Prospec Thread !!
I have a set of the updated lower arms but I can't find those uprights anywhere. How long have they been out? Did you get your hands on a set? Can I use these arms on the standard uprights if I can't find the updated ones for a while? And why haven't I heard anything about these new parts? I haven't seen anyone mention them.

RE: :: Official MBX5/Prospec Thread !!
i know the kit i got is updated. i guess you used to have to dremmel the pbs out to get better steering. i saw one at the shop and the steering changed as the shocks were compressed. mine is square where the pivot balls go in the plastic. they were not on the others. question are the shocks for the Prospec the same as for the reg X5. do they make diff pistons for the mugen?

if you updated the Ackerman, that will remove the bump steer, that was the effect you saw at the hobby shop, it must of been a regular MBX5. These parts just came out and aren't available in the kits. unless you just got a fresh one from mugen. I called them to verify this, they should be getting a fresh supply soon to replinish the resellers like carolinasrc.com and others that sold out as soon as they got them. I'm still waiting for them!
If you look at the arms and compare to yours, they are swept a little foward than the originals and more pointier towards the end where the pillowballs go in... The new uprights/hubs have a bigger opening and more meat around the uprights to compensate for the bigger opening. |
RE: :: Official MBX5/Prospec Thread !!
thanks man- do they make conicals for the mugen? i cant believe the kit didnt come w/ any more pistons? do the xb8 ones work? i got a whole set os those pistons...

RE: :: Official MBX5/Prospec Thread !!
Hi:
I see everyone say when someone broke the Turnbuckle is good idea to change it for the titanium. My question is someone do it. And where to find this titanium part? |
RE: :: Official MBX5/Prospec Thread !!
I don't think this is a problem with the MBX5, The turnbuckles are pretty strong, but if you need the part, you can get them at carolinasrc.com or ebay. The titanuim ones come with the prospec already

RE: :: Official MBX5/Prospec Thread !!
Has anyone upgraded to the Fioroni parts? I've been looking and their parts for the MBX5 look amazing. They are also charging a fortune for everything. I'm considering buying another MBX5 and assembling it will all those Fioroni parts but I can't find enough information to justify the extra money. Specifically the wieght and strength. The Fioroni parts are much more expensive than King Headz, Racers Edge or the Prospec parts. I think I might buy the chassis by itself at first just to try out the parts......I'll install it onto my Prospec and see how it does.
Are there any good distributers for Fioroni other than A-Main? |
RE: :: Official MBX5/Prospec Thread !!
If you get every option from Fioroni in black through Amain, it will cost you $810!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!![X(][X(][X(][X(][X(][X(][X(][X(][X(][X(][X(][X(][X(]

RE: :: Official MBX5/Prospec Thread !!
I know, it's sick. I proabably won't get every part, just the main stuff. I totalled it up in the cart and it's at $699.38. That's triple the cost of the King Headz set. I can't stand seeing that King Headz lettering all over their stuff though......I think it looks like crap.
This is what got me hooked on this Fioroni Stuff: http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_30...tm.htm#3016691 |
RE: :: Official MBX5/Prospec Thread !!
I agree that the Kingz Head stuff gets ruined by their name etched across everything. If they toned that down or even eliminated it, I'd buy more of their stuff.

RE: :: Official MBX5/Prospec Thread !!
well i just ordered everything i need except the kit. once it comes in stock on tower i'll order it. the local nitro scene around here is strong for bashers, but the racing has been down for a while, there is EP racing, but people don't like the noise of a perfectly tuned nitro engine (i personally love the smell & sound of a nitro engine ripping down the straight). i'm going to see if my RC club can get the nitro scene happpening again on the old nitro track. no point having all these nitro buggies & not racing them. the track will need a lot of maintenance to get back up to scratch.

RE: :: Official MBX5/Prospec Thread !!
its like anything else you buy it and you want people to know you got it? i got the full kings set for 200 bucks? its pimp and i want people to know i got it. everyone that has seen it DROOLS over it and i have to wipe it off. now thats the bad part...his stuff is top notch and most of it doesnt even have his name it has KHDZ???

RE: :: Official MBX5/Prospec Thread !!
Ran the MBX5 today yesterday and it had the Crowd Pleazer version 1 body on it. The linkages were rubbing the body as usual and the brakes totally faded...absolutely nothing. Use the Craddock anti-lock with Dynamite pro linkage set. I took off the body and still nothing. Had to thread in links for it to even hold. Seems less servo brake travel but still has the same carb travel. Got it working again, but not the same as before.

And it's only 6.95 to ship! http://www.southeastrc.com/item/MUGE0001 Also I get my parts from www.carolinasrc.com |
RE: :: Official MBX5/Prospec Thread !!
You should only have little brake travel? I use the stock set up, well not really, I have an extra disk in the front so I have a three disk set, for a 60/40 brake set up. I'm using the K-Factory upgrade. works great super braking power especially for a newbie for me who brakes alot! And I'm using a powerful motor at that! I also use the 3PK anti-lock brake simulation, helps around the turns

RE: :: Official MBX5/Prospec Thread !!

RE: :: Official MBX5/Prospec Thread !!
He's saying that local is much more expensive.
|
RE: :: Official MBX5/Prospec Thread !!
Your best bet will be eBay then! they always have kits there for under $700 for the prospec

RE: :: Official MBX5/Prospec Thread !!
just got back from 3 days of racing and even put my bug in a parade, at a 2 day race in Iowa at N liberty i ran the last chance today and you only had 1 qual to get in the mains if you didnt race sat. well i placed in the A-main w/ 11 laps. i loved the track they had a D main as well. the on off switch shut down on me 2 times so im gonna turn it around so the on position is down. the vantage pipe cracked down the top side at the parade. so B E W A R E of the carbon pipe it might look cool but it cant take the heat!!!! ill send it back. it was temped at 225 after 3 tanks in the parade and i didnt have the shell on so there is no excuse whats so ever. im impressed w/ the handling and turned some killer laps w/ it!!!! found my new home!!!
MUGEN BABY!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
RE: :: Official MBX5/Prospec Thread !!
Yeah, I was going to get one but my local HS told me it's only good for bling factor and not for racing. They had to refund 2 customers there money back for the same problem you where having
|
RE: :: Official MBX5/Prospec Thread !!
ya i think ill get a new one from the warrenty and sell just the pipe then keep the header cause it has a bigger sweep than the JP1. the bad thing was i wasnt racing i was just running it down the street in the parade.
|
RE: :: Official MBX5/Prospec Thread !!
i looked on ebay, but there wasn't anything there that stood out. i have dealt with tower a lot & know how they work, so i will most likely go there & know where i stand.
as for the carbon pipe, i am sceptical using carbon around anything that gets hot. i use carbon a lot in making my boats & have had problems with heat before. we had some masts in a shipping container that was left in the sun & all of them ended up snapping (not cool watching people dive out the way of broken masts & rigging). i'd rather go thin ali i think. |
RE: :: Official MBX5/Prospec Thread !!
ya i couldnt believe it cause there has been a LOT of descussion on this carbon pipe and the company said it has a coating on it that will take the heat and it wont crack?
