Default Removing thread lock

Anyone have suggestions for removing thread lock from screws? I usually spray it with contact cleaner and scrub with a toothbrush, but this can be a little cumbersome. Would prefer a solution I can just soak them in.

Addtiionally, would like something to remove the thread lock from the screw holes. Engine mount as an example. I imagine that get's gunked up after a while would like to find a way to clean that out.

Thanks

For screw holes, I spray wd-40 in there and work a new screw in and out of the threads.
Then use and solvent like nitro spray to clean away the wd-40

Acetone is another remover like nail polish remover or some brake cleaners or carb cleaners with acetone. This will melt most thread locks than wipe away clean.

Brake clean works for me. Also a great way to keep your brake disc grabbing good in between brake tear downs.

I heat my screws up and the thread lock will just wipe off. For the holes, i'll thread in a clean screw and work it back and forth with the help of some kind of cleaner; alcohol, methanol, brake cleaner....

Yes as we all know after many years of R/C experience never use a Carb Cleaner on anything plastic some Brake Cleaners are also questionable. They have to be Non Chlorinated and even then some have Toluene which can harm some plastics. Nitro Cleaners are the best because they are Methanol Alcohol based for safety unless you know. I like to use either Nitro Cleaners or Denatured Alcohol on my stuff. Electric Motor Cleaners are the safest on anything R/C but dry to quick for scrubbing off burnt on oils.

I'm with ejc34710, just use heat. If it's a screw I'm concerned enough to safe just hit it with some heat, heat gun, lighter, butane etc and wipe if off. If it's a screw hole I just use my soldering iron. Stick it in the hole for a bit, heat it up and follow that up with a q-tip. Works like a charm, and the q-tip completely wicks away all the old thread lock so it's like new...no muss...no fuss.

yes it does sooo much more easy

i get e feebay car thats nasty

tear it down throw all the plastic and steel parts (cant have any kind of finish) in

set it

come back in 480 seconds

and most everything is pulled out asnd wiped down loking as good as new
for the tough stuff like gelled nitro in a gas tank it takes about 3 480 second cycles

nice thing is i can clean it out throw some jewlery cleaner in it and clean my watches and the better half's bling lol(keeps her happy lol)
