Default Is it worth it?

I'm thinking of building a new Inferno from scratch with all titanium and aluminum parts and Nova Rossi 2.85 HP engine, all the parts will cost me about $1800.00. I'd like to know if anyone else has a car like this and if they are happy with it. Also.... does Kyosho make a 2 speed tranny for the Inferno? I cant seem to find one anywhere. Thanks for any help.

Trust me, building a car piece by piece is a lot more expensive than hopping up a car right out of the kit.

I think they make one for the Mad Force that you might be able to shoe-horn in with plenty of cutting, but not one for drop in; sry.

It is nice to have something like what you are looking to do, and I applaud you for the effort, however, do you plan on running it? You might find that after you put all this into building such a vehicle, you won't run it, you will sit it on a shelf and look at it. I did the same think, I build an all aluminum/titanium car. Spent about the same amount of money as what you are talking and it became a nice "show car" however I ran it 1 time. I ended up selling the car on ebay for $500. because I was had no use for it. I know it is nice to build something like that, but for what you are willing to spend on building the vehicle, do what the last post said, and hech for that much money, build 2.

Good luck[sm=thumbup.gif]

Man that is an awful lot of money to spend on an rc car.lol Well, I should be one to talk, I just spent over $1000 on my mbx5 with everything in it. I do plan on running it every weekend though. If it's really what you want, go for it, but i'd say it's not worth it. Just my opinion.

Vito you'll definitely have one of the sweeter rides out there. If you run the 2.85 hp Novarossi (MK2 Medial Pro i'm guessing), forget some of the bling-bling parts and get an aftermarket clutch like a Fioroni. That much horsepower and torque eats the stock aluminum clutch shoes pretty quickly.

I'd personally get the Kanai II (my buggy, yeah i'm biased) instead of the regular Inferno if you've got that kind of cash to spend. It has all the pro parts and there's not much "improving" to be done on it. Only things i want for mine are Fioroni chassis braces, a factory hinge pin set that uses nuts instead of e-clips, and shock shaft boots from a Mugen MBX-5 (Kyosho boots tear super easily). The Fioroni diff mounts look trick. I'd stay away from aluminum suspension arms; the stockers are plastic for a reason (unsprung weight).

2-speed tranny: Won't be race legal. If you're only gonna bash, i'm sure somebody makes one. But to have a tricked out Inferno and never race it would be a shame...

I was thinking of getting the Kanai II but I cant find any break down of the parts it comes with so I wouldnt know what hop up parts I would have to buy. My other car is an Inferno 7.5 RTR and it came with aluminum chassis. Car was pretty fast out of the box, I would say mid 40's and it still has stock buggy tires on it, im sure it would be a bit faster with road tires.

In my own opinion...not really. The alum arms are among the most expensive part of any alum hopup for almost any car, usually $25-40 per pair (or sometimes for one side set). I rarely ever see an all-alum buggy, and I can only think it adds more weight which isn't such a great idea, most buggies weigh an average 7 to 7.5 lbs and with the extra alum you're looking at around 9 lbs and that'll hurt the drivetrain and engine performance. I suggest going graphite on the radio tray, center diff brace and perhaps stone guards and even the fuel tank splash guard. Titanium is always good, get as much of those as you can, and get good CNC chassis braces.

Go ahead if you're willing to shell out an insane amount of money, but get a K2 or MP7.5 kit to begin with and hop up from that, it'll be far cheaper.

Where I race my 1/8 scale they also have 1/6 scale. People get 1500 - 2000 or more into a car. They race and bash all day long. Break stuff sure - just put it back together and go again.

I would say get the original kit and replace the stock peices with Ti and aluminum. Keep weight in mind. If you replace an aluminum part with Ti it is going to be heavier unless you shrink it down a bit (which you can because it will be stronger).
