My engine won't start. I have the .15fe in the rs4 3. The glow plug and charger are fine and the engine wont start, the fuel is in the engine.
Any one what the problem is?
All help appreciated
Thanks!

if there is one thing i have learned - it is that every engine will start. there are only four things that make a nitro engine run:
All of these things must be in effect to start. So lets check them out.
Fuel: Can you see the fuel going from the line into the carb? yes you can, as u mentioned that there was fuel in the chamber when it was flooded.
Air: Is the carb opening, is the airfilter clean? yes. u already said it was.
Compression: Is there compression? Its a new engine, so this should be okay, but u can check it by manually turning the flywheel with your thumb, it should be almost impossible to do.
Combustion: Have you checked the glow plug on the igniter while it is out of the car, and made sure it glows bright? U dont mention this, so try it first if u havnt.
-----------------------------
If all these things check out than it can only be one thing: You need to adjust the mixture of the fuel and air. It sounds to me the way u described it that you have it too rich, of course if u are breaking it in that is how u want it. set the HSN about 3/4 of turn lean, see if it starts, if it does then richen it back up once it is running. also - a great way to clear out that fuel that got in there is to pull the plug, and yank on the starter cord about 20 times, or use a box if u have one. hope this huge post helps.

is your tank primed when u try to start it. if it does not have a primer cover the exaust so nothing can go in or out then pull the pull start a few times untill the fuel goes to the engine(holding the exaust the whole time) release the exaust and then try to start it

It is to do with the compression I can turn the flywheel by my hand with little resistance. Is there any way of fixing this or do i need a new engine or anything else?
Thanks
Thanks

My glow plug is ok. I changed and it burns ok, so it is nothing to do with the glow plug.
Is it worth getting a new piston and sleeve or shall i just get a new engine. Anyone know how much the piston and sleeve for the .15fe is?
thanks

it should run. is the compression the same all the way through the 2 strokes ie 360 degree turn. if it gets tighter at the top then it could be fine(ish). dont rely on it to win anything but it could run.

2 gallons on an FE that has been driven hard is pushing it. very well possible that the piston sleeve is worn. it wont start at all, or starts, but quits after heating up?
did u see my first post? have u checked the needle settings, and made sure fuel is getting to the carb?

how old is your fuel?
i am doubting that it is a piston/sleeve problem, since that usually occurs gradually not immediatly. u would have seen that coming, unless u did something drastic to the engine, such as over rev it, or over lean it.
do u know anyone with a starter box? it would help, rather than yanking on the cord 1000 times.
u said that u have checked the new plug u put in? sometimes its the glow starter thats bad. check to make sure the plug is glowing brightly.
after that - make sure u can answer yes to the following questions:
my glow plug glows bright and hot
good, new fuel is getting to the carb, i can see it.
at idle, my carb is open about 1mm
my needle settings are correct.
thats it. if u have fuel, fire, air, compression, and the right fuel/air mixture - it WILL start.

thats fine that u used two glow starters, but have u physically looked at the plug attached to the starter, while out of the engine, to make sure it is working?
dont buy a starterbox for the FE. without sounding like a dick, that engine is not very good. be better off spending some money on a decent engine instead

i will try again, if it dont work then i will buy this engine:

CX12PS2 - Novarossi CX-12 PS2
Name Novarossi CX-12 PS2
Manufacturer Novarossi
Catalog Note New 2003 version. Pull-start, Side exhaust, Slide carb, STD crank. Max power 1BHP . Max RPM 34000.
Price £ 157.00
and this starter box:

HB11294 - Nitro Starter Box
Name Nitro Starter Box
Manufacturer Hot-Bodies
Catalog Note Requires 2 x 7.2v nicads for operation
Price £ 49.00
Are these any good
Also would i need to do anything to the engine for it to run on the starter box. ie do something with the pullstart?

if u got the starter box, why pay extra for the pullstart engine?
not a bad engine u choose, wouldnt recommend it for a newbie though. i would recommend the OS .12CV-RX or the OS .12 CV-R if u get a starter box. better engines, much easier to tune for a beginner, and less expensive.
as for a starter box, alot of brands are good, just make sure that they have a single large motor, rather than 2 540 motors.
