I've been hunched over my LST2 a lot recently, running it in and tuning it etc, and I was wondering whether it is advisable to wear some hearing protection either plugs or defenders?
I did notice the other day that my hearing had slightly deadened(it recovered soon enough) but, if I remember rightly, prolonged exposure leads to an exponential loss in hearing.
Your thoughts please.

if its an all day everyday thing I think you might be better off with protection, but if its just on the weekends for a couple min at a time, i wouldnt worry about it.

I've had problems when breaking in engines with my ears, ringing and headaches... Didn't help that I was next to brick walls and that but next time I just used some in ear buds from a MP3 player, (isolating) and it worked perfect!
Other than breaking in I wouldn't bother and enjoy the noise

I would say no but that's entirely up to you
when I run any nitro car I never wear any ear protection, and when i run my savage I have the loudest pipe possible (hpi ribbed)
and I have dual 12 in subs right behind my seat in the blazer as well

It doesn't bother me, but that decision is up to you, if you think it is to loud, get a set, there is no shame in protecting yourself.

No, hearing potection is not needed, but I personally would suggest you wear some anyways. If you totally love the sound of the nitro, you can always take them off when you truck is down some ways.

It can be helpful with gassers.

I won't run a Gasser 1/5 scale without ear protection. It gives me a head ache is all and takes away the fun. I even wear safety glasses to protect my eyes. It doesn't make me look like a dork. My Tilly hat does that
I get weird looks when body surfing at the beach wearing a big hat in the water

Cheers for the replies fellas.
Anyway, it was really only a concern while being sat next to the vehicle while breaking it in/messing about. I'm not that daft to think I need protection when the truck is off in the distance.
