Default Need help fine tuning

hey all,

I recently just purchased a Traxxas Jato 3.3 and am now trying to fine tune the car. Proper break in was completed with success. I feel I have the HSN and the LSN pretty close to where I want to be, but not quite.

The car accelerates and decelerates nicely, but only when I frequently go from idle to full throttle. My main problem is this: If I am in the grass or offroading, and am trying to get traction, I really only go from no throttle to about half throttle. If I keep doing this it starts to get really boggy as if it is running rich on the LSN. I can eliminate the bog by doing some high throttle runs.

However, when I do the pinch test I get a nice 3 seconds in which case I feel as though I should not lean on the LSN. Any suggestions for this? Maybe it is natural, but I feel as though I could do better somehow.

Thanks!

No. That would make it worse. The issue is the motors are really designed to run up to full throttle, when you're running around slowly, you're "loading up" the motor and it bogs. If the motor had a mid-range needle, I'd lean it a bit, but since it's a traxxas, I'm pretty sure it's a 2 needle carb. I would say just change to better tires when off-roading so you can get traction and use more throttle, since the stock jato tires are garbage off-road.....maybe lean out the lwo end just a hair.

yeah, that's what i figured, I don't have that problem with my MT, as it gets great traction. With the Jato, it just spins and spins as I am working the throttle, then gets really boggy.

I love the car by the way, just may need some new tires.

My savage with an Axial .28 smokes steady around half throttle. I think what happens, is the carb opens enough to get almost full fuel flow, but you are still limiting the air intake. You might try leaning the LSN 1/8 as long as it doesent seem too lean at other times. Leaning the LSN just a little may fix your problem. I run mine pretty rich on both needles. If i run at half throttle some it does load up a little, but nothing that doesent clear out pretty quick when i crawl on it. You may just need to lean the LSN a little. Give it a shot. It cant hurt.

Eric
