Default RC Software....

Hey guys, I work as a software developer and sometimes I develop little small software for my personal use. Since I'm in RC.

Maybe there is something I can develop. Not sure what to develop yet. I need some ideas, maybe something that you guys need or anything. Something not too big that I can write when I'm off work. Not RC games because I don't have too much experience in developing games.

You should focus on tools for RC for the iphone..

Tools that you can use at the track etc..

you should develop some software that you plug your RC's ESC into that tells you all the diagnostics of your run, like temps, top speed, amp draw, and battery specs. Pretty much like an all in one program that does it all. If not then what are some programs you have already developed?

It's called telemetry. Spektrum makes it and it does top speed/rpm's, temp, and receiver battery voltage.

Data collection from the ESC would require enough memory installed on the ESC not to mention hall sensors, etc...It's not something you could program in. Custom firmwares for the ESC's would be cool though. Even just something that allows you to add your own code to the programming. IMO of course.

they would charge over $1000 for that. Even know mp4 players from china only cost about $30 buks and are WAY more advanced then escs they still overprice them because people buy it.

They have eagle tree data loggers that do a lot of what was mentioned, at more than 10 times less than a grand.

Just throwing some ideas out there;
A maintenance log - it could even show tools and supplies needed, show maintenance intervals,
A spare parts inventory
A set up log/database (gearing, suspension, etc)
A program to extrapolate performance - enter in certain real time data and have a program that could predict top speed, over steer/under steer etc based on changes to gearing, motor, spring rate, etc.
A program that would aid in tuning - this would require accelerometers, temp sensors and maybe something to register the amount of smoke in the exhaust
