If everyone had that attitude about it then there would be no custom one off projects. Just buy another one, they are pretty cheap...

Here, here. I agree. If someone does the mods and posts a good video, who knows, maybe I'll buy me some fast traxx too!!

thats the dillema. something will definitely break gear wise. but maybe if you just installed 2 standard 540's in there like from a tamiya kit it would hold up. all im wondering is if the motors will fit. usually the housing for the motors in those tycos were only big enough for the motors they came with. but maybe the super fast traxx can accommodate something bigger than smaller version.

What size motors did they come with, 380's?

I think the smaller versions came with 380's i dont know about the larger version...but may be it's the other way around...because I justreceived the superfast traxx today and they look like 380's to me but I may be wrong. and if they are 380's there are plenty available to upgrade.

Judging by what I see...the Super Fast Traxx is way more "hobby grade"than the original. It takes a 7.2V pack...a suspension that looks like it works which is siilar to a Tamiya hornet's in the rear but theres no swing action. its a fixed rear end with 2 shocks...the front suspension lookd like some sort of friction type but a heavey impact looks like it would cause some damage. This thing is pretty big compared to the other Tycos Ive seen....As mentioned before in the thread we all remember the fast traxx tohave been this huge car when we were younger, but this version actually IS big lol...something like 1/10 scale. The one I just bought is literally in mint shape, who ever sold this to me on ebay clearly didn't know its worth but Im not complaining. Makes me think twice about running it man...it looks so nice the way it is, besides you're not going to get top level performance out of it when compared to what we are all used to running.

^^^^ Performance depends on your choice of 380s And for breaking parts anything and everything could be manufactured by someone on here. I found a lathe in a shop in my local town designed for making dollhouse furniture, It can mill plastic/wood as standard, but could also be upgraded to do metal and CNC upgrades. I WILL be investing in one, was around £150.

My point is, if something breaks, with determination something can be made or even modifyed to rectify the problem.

Please can you post us some pics ?

Regardless, your one lucky guy (getting the brute) and whatever you do with it you'll get satisfaction from it

They're actually worth money?[&:] I figured you should be able to get them a dime a dozen!! What's a good FAIR value for one in good/great shape? I'm reffering to the Super Fast Traxx; that's the bigger and faster one right?

You got to be kidding me $300. You can get a kyosho blizzard(or what ever) new for less than that.

Ya I actually have a blizzard with a mamba 7700kv in it...that thing rocks man...unstoppable...cant wait for the snow to come. I mostly bought the traxx because its a rare verson of the model to find NIB. Its more of a collector's item. Plus its in original shape no botched up mods for "improved performance" lol. Like i said I will be posting pics soon and I will also have a video up soon on youtube...My username on youtube is AQNY23...I have vids of my vintage Tamiya fox w/Technigold motor, my midnight pumpkin with 19t checkpoint money motor, a wheely king vid, an ofna 1/8 buggy vid as well as a teaser vid of my blitzer beetle with a 13t in it. The videos of the superfast traxx that are on there right now SUCK BALLS. The guy taking those vids has some ghetto phone cam that can give you seisures rather than entertain you. So as I have never found any decent super traxx vids I will add one soon.

Ok I took the pics...After taking the pics last night I decided to take a look at the motors, so I removed the m from the the rear end and when I popped one of the two out I was proud to see that in fact they are 380's, it even said so on the motor "mabuchi 380 sh". But unfortunately they are slow as **** so an upgrade would be welcomed but the only thing I see a problem with is how the pinion gear is attached to the motors...theres no allen screw to pop it out its literally attached to the motor shaft. any ideas on how to pop it out are welcomed lol. Another thing also is if i do change the motors would the stock "esc" handle them or just burn out? stay tuned for pics.

Heat the pinion up really carefully with a torch, and try to apply as little heat to the motor shaft as possible. This will make the pinion expand and it should slide off relatively easy. You may have to use a standard screwdriver for a little persuasion.
As for your stock ESC, well, I would just run it with whatever motor/s you upgrade to and see if it overheats and stops. It should have a thermal protection circuit on it that will shut it down if the motors are too hot for it, literally and figureitivly! Good luck.

Ya I guess that would work. As for the ESC you're probably right as well...trial and error...it would be cool to see this thing go faster than it does...as a matter of fact Im not convinced that its faster than the smaller version...it says 25% bigger and 25% faster but I think all they got was the bigger part right lol.
