Default brushless or brushed for drifting?

Is it okay to have too much power for drifting? Because if it is, i'll probably just go with brushless since it is maintainence free.

Do it man. I will never go back. I out drift everyone now. The power is a bit much at first but like anything you learn. When guys with brushed do a ten foot sideways drift, I can do twenty all day long.

there is nothing wrong with going bl. novak makes a bl system witch is equal to a 27 turn motor. novak ss4300. would be a great system.

and when it goes Bang.. or overheats its more ex*****ive to fix..

I would go brushless for racing where there is adequate airflow..

I am running a Mamba MAX 5700 BL system in my TC4. I love it. The motor never gets warm, nor does the ESC. There are a bunch of 540 size BL motors to pick from, just pick your favorite BL car ESC.

I dont have time for motor maintenance AND i had the BL system just sitting in a box, so that is why I used it.

I think long term, BL is cheaper, plus a lot less "motor involvement"

or just do what im doing---go buy a brushed/brushless esc from castle creations $135 and use your brushed motor---when your ready to step up all you have to do is swap wires and motors----AND YES THE MAMBA MAX DOES BOTH MOTORS___LOOK AT THERE SITE YOU NEED THE CASTLE LINK to do it

DAMN! I did not know that!!!!

Wow..you just gave me a whole new outlook on the options!

If the Mamba MAX does do both Brushed and BL motors, then it is the BEST ESC BY FAR, IMO.

cann a TT01 handle a Mamba MAX 5700 BL?

what up grades would u need

i have TT01R
so i got bearings and alum drive shaft out of the box, would i be able just to drop that bad boy, then u could increase your cell count correct myabe to 8

i was more looking at the 4600kv set up says its as fast as a 12t

would this be safe for TT01R

No reason why it would not work in the TT-01R. The 4600 motor would be great for drifting...but you would NOT need to increase your cell count to 8. I am running 6 and it is fast enough for drifting.

The mamba max motor dropped right into the stock TC4 motor mount.

As far as upgrade, I think you have most of them..just upgrade as you break stuff.

I would go with novak ss4300 that chiman2 mentioned. A buddy has one and i tried it and was really impressed. Has good power, and personally I liked it better than my setup (ta05 gts novak, d1-drift 19T motor).

um. the chances of that happening would be next to zero. and you wouldnt be able to cause that to happen without purposely trying to break it. if that did happen. i could easily be a factory mistake. brushed motors break way more than brushless motors. bl are virtually maintanence free. no comm cuts. no brush changing. nothing. on the other hand with brushed motors. you have to do all that and brushed motors and i would think that brushed motors have a way shorter lifetime than brushless.

TT-01 will Handle a 13T Brushed motor so I think the 4600 would be safe..

i woudl think that a tt01 can handle more than 13t because people have put bl systesm that are like 8 turns and its fine. and no he does not mean the stock esc. the stock esc is rated for 27t. but tamiya says its actually rated for tamiya motors not others. but its fine.
